Grounded 2has been released in early access, and fans of the series are already shrinking themselves down to experience a brand-new location, Brookhollow Park. Naturally, an entire park is going to be larger than Dr Tully’s back garden from the first game, but only some of the park is currently accessible in early access.
I’m sure we all have fond memories of fighting off vicious clusters of spiders outside Tully’s home, or perhaps not-so-fond memories of falling from atop a stalk of grass, plummeting to an untimely death in the dirt. Either way,Obsidianhas commemorated these moments with a neat easter egg in Grounded 2’s early access.
Fond Memories
As spotted byTraining-Influence63 on Reddit, you’re able to see a low-poly version of Dr. Tully’s house in the background. In fact, a lot of the neighbourhood is present in the background, including that gas station sign from the first game.
We can only hope that a rejuvenated Dr Tully has been reunited with his family in that very home. The teens are still fighting the good fight as miniature, slightly older versions of themselves. As Grounded 2 is a direct sequel, the full release will likely have more references to Grounded and continue the plot threads established in the first game.
Grounded 2 is off to a good start, immediatelysurpassing the peak numbers of the original on Steam, despite Grounded 2’s presence on Game Pass. Not everything in the sequel has proved popular, however. The replacement of Grounded’s varied suite of tools with a multi-use omni-tool in Grounded 2has been criticised, as it deprives players of a sense of progression.
Obsidianhas already released a detailed roadmapfor Grounded 2’s early access. Over the next 12 months, Grounded 2 will receive three major updates (fall, winter, and summer). The fall update will focus on AXL, with a variety of crafting recipes related to it added. Winter will feature new bugs: earwigs and crickets. In summer, ziplines, a sorely missed feature from the first game, will return.
Grounded 2 is currently available on early access for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
