Xbox Announced New Handheld Made In Collaboration With ROG

Thehandheldwill mark the first time Microsoft has created and marketed a dedicated handheld, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the Xbox brand.

Xbox has struggled since the360generation, with the Xbox One sellingroughly half the unitsof thePlayStation 4, and the Xbox Series X/S is selling roughly one console for every threePlayStation 5s, so this is a great sign for fans of the brand.

The console will have two Skus, with the Xbox Ally described as “The essential handheld at a great value for everyone from the casual player to the avid enthusiast,” and the Ally X as “The ultimate high-performance handheld, built for the most demanding players.”

Microsoft designed the handheld to feel familiar for Xbox players, with a dedicated Xbox button, that gives players Xbox to chat, apps, and settings, contoured grips, and accessibility features. It will also include access to games from the Xbox store, alongside other “Leading PC Storefronts”.

The trailer shows that the handheld is very much a portable Xbox.

A later press release revealed that the Ally will have an AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. The Ally X will have an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, 24 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. Both will have a 7-inch, 120 HZ screen.

It was confirmed that the console will launch in the holiday season, and news on pricing, compatible accessories, and pre-orders will come at a later date.
