Wuchang: Fallen Feathersdelivers a surprisingly solid soulslike experience that, in some ways, feels like the direct spiritual successor to the original Dark Souls, offering a stunning interconnected world filled to the brim with challenging boss encounters. And, as with any soulslike, you can expect a handful of weapon typesthat dictate your playstyle to be present and at the forefront of its design.

Weapons such as the One-Handed Sword, which has a strong focus on Magic and Feathering builds, making it highly versatile, as it is also a relatively quick weapon when you’re up close and personal. While it is a bit of an odd weapon type to get the hang of, it’s easily one of the best offerings in the game once you get a solid build!

One-Handed Sword Overview

TheOne-Handed Swordin Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a strong weapon for players who love toincorporate Magicinto their playstyle, enabling them tosit back and cast potent spellswhile still covering their bases if their target manages to close the gap.

Overall, the One-Handed Sword is aunique weaponthatexcels at range, but can be just as deadly up close and personalwith an optimal build.Magic and Featheringare its core Stats that its Impetus Repository focuses on, so if you’re not interested in either of those areas, then this is likely not the weapon type for you. If that piques your interest, then the builds below will help you get the most out of the One-Handed Sword!

Feathering, Magic, Or Both?

Generally, you will only want to focus on one aspect,as the Impetus Repository (Skill Tree) will branch off depending on your focus, making it very costly if you’re trying to balance and focus on both. As such, westrongly recommend going with a Magic-focused build,asSpells are extraordinarily potentin this game and are tons of fun to use.

While a Feathering build certainly has its place, it takes a backseat to Magic in just about every way, as it just cannot hang with its disgusting damage output. All builds in this guide will beleaning heavily toward the Magic sideof things, but feel free to experiment with the Feathering aspect if that is more your jam!

Best Early Game One-Handed Sword Build

Early on in your adventures in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, you may notice that One-Handed Swords are a bit rare to come by, leaving you stuck with theDarkfrost Edgefor quite a while before you obtain a new one. Despite this, youcan still make do with this weapon,as it is more than capable in the early game.

Thereisn’t much to choose from at this stagein the game, butwhat you have access to can drastically prepare you for the horrorsto come, which is precisely what this build will showcase. Mixing and matching armor sets is also a must, so we hope you’re not too hellbent on ‘Fashion Souls’ this early in your journey!

Temper

The full-embroidered set is surprisingly very good early on, so don’t sweat it too much if you can’t get your hands on the Ming Set. We recommend mixing them together, as this build provides a broader coverage of mitigations and defenses, making it very valuable for some of the early boss encounters.

After progressing a bit past the opening few zones, you will eventually come across theAstral Blade, which will beyour go-to choice from there on out until you get something even better, especially if you are hard-focusing on the One-Handed Sword Skill Tree and have it mapped out pretty far. A build utilizing this weapon would look more along the lines of this:

You can wear full Centipede armor here if you wish, but this setup does an excellent job at mitigating dang-near everything in the game, making it the most balanced combination you have access to early-ish on. Swapping out the Twin Infant Pendant for the Dracolich Pendant may also be beneficial, depending on your play style and situation!

Best Magic-Focused One-Handed Sword Build

Finally, we have thebest overall build for the One-Handed Swordweapon type in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. While this class can also focus heavily on Feathering abilities, we feel thatMagic is very potent in this game and should be your overall focusif you want to get the most out of it.

Spamming Spells and carving off large chunks of your target’s healthis a sight to behold, and the One-Handed Sword is really the only weapon type that can do that, so why not take advantage of it? Thebuild below harnesses its full potential for one of the strongest Magic-focused buildsin the game, which will make just about any encounter feel trivial!

While the Avian Hunter’s Set is by far the best complete set for a Magic-focused One-Handed Sword build, equipping the Ming Helmet and Ming Greaves will give you even better protection across the board, even if it does look a bit goofy. However, rocking the complete Avian Hunter’s Set shouldn’t be too much of an issue if you can keep spacing long enough to spam your Spells!
