Summary
If you thought literally any fandom wasfull of wild theories and speculation, then clearly you haven’t metGrand Theft Autofans. Specifically,Grand Theft Auto 6fans.
Desperate for any crumb of information, they began trying to identify the “Mud Girl” from the first GTA 6 trailer. Those same fansalso speculated that a new trailer was on the way after Rockstar created a Discord server. There was also the timethey were convinced a trailer was coming after a post about a car on social media. Oh, and lest we forget the timethey turned to the actual real-life moon to try and pinpoint the next trailer.
Point being — GTA 6 fans were hyped about the game. Keyword: were. Because after it wasrevealed on Friday that the game would no longer come out in 2025, instead being delayed into May 2026, those same fans did not take the news lightly.
Give Them A Screenshot Or Something, Rockstar
Over on the GTA6 subreddit, the news has gone as well as expected, with fans chiming in left and right with their disappointment. “TakeTwoDecades,“one gamer wrote, pointing to the long stretch between GTA 5 and 6.
“At least give us a screenshot. This is ridiculous even for R*,“another user wrote. “1.5 years of silence just to drop a delay news without even showing us bread crumbs of the game?”
To be fair, that fan has a point. Rockstar is notoriously secretive, but the lack of GTA 6 news is pretty bizarre by their own standards.
“Lowkey just so over this game now, it’s never gonna live up to the hype,“one gamer expressed in part. Another fanshared that same sentiment, adding, “My hype for this game has officially died.”
No matter which way you shake it, fans, especially hardcore GTA fans, are really disappointed. The only people who may not be disappointed arecompeting publishers, as analysts believe they can “breathe a sigh of relief” after the delay. Still, considering how long the entire industry has been waiting, it’s hard not to feel some type of way.
