Who Are The Washington Liberation Force?

The Washington Liberation Front, commonly referred to as the WLF or “Wolves,” is a militarized factionthat emerged in the aftermath of the Cordyceps outbreak. Originally formed by civilians anddefecting FEDRA officersdisillusioned with the oppressive regime, the WLF successfullyoverthrew FEDRA’s control in Seattle.

Under the leadership of Isaac Dixon,a former FEDRA sergeant, the group established its headquarters in therepurposed SoundView Stadium, transforming it into a fortified base complete with training facilities, medical bays, and agricultural zones.

The WLF operates with astrict military hierarchyand is known for being highly armed and ready to fight. As of episode four,they are in a violent conflict with the Seraphites, a religious cult that shuns modern technologyandembraces a more primitive lifestyle. This ongoing war has led to significant casualties on both sides andhas further destabilized the region.

Is Abby A Part Of The Washington Liberation Force?

Abby Anderson is a prominent memberof the WLF. Following the disbandment of the Fireflies, Abby and her group,known as the Salt Lake crew, joined the WLF to continue their fight against oppressive regimes. Abby’s combat skills and dedication quickly earned her a reputationas one of the WLF’s best soldiers.

Abby’s journey within the WLF is complex. Whileshe initially aligns with the group’s objectives, her personal quest for vengeance leads her to question the WLF’s ideology. This internal conflictbecomes a central theme in her character development,and going forward, we’ll see more of Abby’s character asshe is hunted by Ellie.

Abby’s involvement with the WLFalsobrings her into direct conflict with Ellie, as after killing Joel, Ellie just wants to end her life. The best clue she had was the WLF’s logo,which led Ellie and Dina to Seattle. Though we don’t know much beyondwhat has currently been shown about WLF from the show, we have snippets of lore from here and there, and currently, they are at oddswith the Seraphitesmore than anyone.
