If your style of play inOblivion Remasteredinvolves maxing out your Strength and finding the biggest weapon possible, then you’ll love these uniquely powerful two-handed weapons. You’re probably imagining a list full of hammer-type weapons, and while there are a few, two-handed Claymores also make a major mark.
Whether you prefer Blade or Blunt, the most potent two-handed weapon choices in Oblivion Remastered will shatter your expectations. From Daedric artifacts like the Mace of Molag Bal to unique Shivering Isles gear like Nerveshatter, these are the best two-handed weapons in Oblivion Remastered.
All enchantment magnitudes listed are for the level 30+ version of the weapon, where applicable.
8Sword Of Jyggalag
If you’re looking for an unenchanted sword to add to your arsenal, then theSword of Jyggalagis the perfect choice for you. This is the only two-handed weapon to make the list among Oblivion’s best, and you may add it to almost any build as long as you’ve leveled your Blade skill.
You receive this sword as a rewardfrom the Prince of Madness questat the end of the Shivering Isles questline, so it’s intended to be an endgame weapon. You can still rush the Shivering Isles questline whenever you want, but it’s worth waiting to collect the rewards you’ll receive until after level 30.
7Akaviri Warblade
The Akaviri Warbladeis easily one ofthe best early-game weapons you can get,if you’re able toafford the hefty cost that comes along with it. Head over to Jensine at Jensine’s ‘Good as New’ Merchandise in the Imperial City Market District to pick up this blade once you can afford it.
Damaging the Fatigue, Magicka, and Health of early-game enemies is very valuable, considering that they’ll level along with you. 15 or 30 points is a large amount for these lower-level enemies, so you shouldn’t have a problem taking them out with this powerful two-handed sword.
6Staff of Sheogorath
While Staves are typically considered separately, it’s worth making an exception for arguably the most unique choice in the game:Sheogorath’s Staff. You might see the effect and be wondering what the ‘Voice of Sheogorath’ effect could possibly mean, and let me tell you – it’s a fun one.
Essentially, when used on attacking enemies, this staff completely freezes them in placeand makes it impossible to harm any of the characters affected by the staff. Freezing attackers doesn’t cause them to become hostile to you if they aren’t already, andthis staff is essentially Oblivion’s take on ‘The World’ from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures.
5Mace Of Molag Bal
The Mace of Molag Balis likely one of the best weapons you can get once it becomes available at level 17. It would have been nicer to get this weapon earlier in the game, but it still holds strong at the expected level range you’ll acquire it.
Regardless of its relatively tame effect, this Mace is a huge advantage for you against Spellsword enemies, as it will weaken both of their main methods of hurting you. Unfortunately, this Mace falls behind once you pick up some of the better late-game weapons, but it will serve you well before level 30.
4Nerveshatter
Nerveshatterstands out as maybe the most powerful shock-based weapon in the entire game, though it undoubtedly captures attention as the best two-handed option.
While there isn’t a duration listed for the Weakness to Shock effect, it’s allegedly working as intended and providing the debuff.
Even if there’s something funky going on with its enchantments, this weapon’s base damage is the highest in Cyrodiil. Acquire this powerful option by defeating Syl, the Duchess of Dementia, in the Shivering Isles during the Ritual of Dementia or Roots of Madness quests.
3Perfect Madness Claymore
The Perfect Madness Claymoreis one of the best pure damage-dealing weapons you can find, with an exceptionally helpful enchantment. The additional 20 points of damage to an enemy’s health is great in any circumstance, especially if you’re facing a foe with resistance to certain elements.
While the Perfect Madness Claymore is both visually intimidating and powerful on paper, there’s an even better option for two-handed blades that directly damage a foe’s health.
2Shadowrend
Shadowrendprovides a major step up, but its impressive power is offset by the amount of effort this weapon will take to get, as you will have tocomplete the Symbols of Office Shivering Isles questto receive this weapon from your shadow (trust us, you’ll see when you finish the quest).
The additional damage directly to your opponent’s health makes this weapon especially dangerous against any foes. However, you might find more success when switching to specialized options against enemies who have a weakness to a certain element.
1Voldendrung
Volendrungstands out from the rest of the top-tier two-handed weapons mainly because of its Paralyze effect, which completely immobilizes your target for three full seconds, giving you time to follow up with potentially fatal attacks.
Aside from the incredibly strong paralyzing effect, the ability to drain health ensures that you’ll continue to damage opponents after you hit them, essentially mimicking a bleeding effect that slowly reduces their total HP.Sometimes, one hit is all it takesto defeat an enemy thanks to Volendrung’s high initial damage.
