What Are The Effects Of Eating Toxic Mushrooms

When you eat a poisonous mushroom in Scum, the toxinsslowly build upin your system and trigger a range of worsening negative effects. This is calledSeverity. Severity is graded fromone to three: mild at first, such as fatigue or nausea, and escalating to blurred vision and rapid health loss. At the highest severity, yourhealth drains continuouslyuntil death, unless treated.

To help you avoid this, we’ve created a breakdown of thedifferent effectscaused by consuming toxic mushrooms.

Alpha Amanitin is one of thedeadliest toxinsfound in the game, primarily concentrated in the Amanita mushroom family. Poisoning begins once your toxin levels hit just 5 percent of the maximum threshold, making evensmall amounts dangerous. The severity levels are listed below.

Level Two Severity

Level Three Severity

Amanita Phalloides is the most lethal of the group, aseating just onecan be fatalif left untreated. Amanita Virosa carries a slightly lower dose but can still push you to the edge of death without intervention.

Amanita Muscariacontains about athird of Virosa’s toxin level, and Amanita Pantherina has thelowest concentration. However, eating five or morecan still lead to lethal consequences if not treated quickly.

Muscimol Poisoning

Muscimol is apsychoactive compoundfound in both Amanita Muscaria and Amanita Pantherina mushrooms. Poisoning symptoms begin once your Muscimol toxin level reaches around 5 percent of the maximum threshold. It has three levels of severity.

Amanita Muscaria contains thehighest concentration of Muscimol. It’s not immediately lethal, buteating around sixof them can push your toxin levels dangerously high. On top of that, Muscaria also containsAlpha Amanitin, another harmful toxin.

Mushrooms can be bought and sold at variousopen saloons within outpostsscattered across the map. Just speak to the bartender behind the counter to see their stock.

Amanita Pantherina has slightly less Muscimol, but it still poses a threat if you consume too much. Roughlyeight full mushroomscould be fatal. Always keep an eye on your toxin buildup if you experiment with either.

Ibotenic Acid Poisoning

Ibotenic acid is anon-lethal toxinfound in the Amanita Muscaria and Amanita Pantherina mushrooms. Poisoning kicks in once your toxin level hits just 5 percent of the maximum, making it dangerous in small doses.

Amanita Muscaria contains themost concentrated dose: justseven mushrooms can max out your toxin level. Amanita Pantherina, on the other hand, takes about eight.

Level One Severity

Unlike other toxins in-game, ibotenic acid only hasone level of severity, but it still packs a punch if you’re not careful.

Psilocybe Cyanescens is the only mushroom in Scum that contains thepsychoactive toxin Psilocybin. It’s highly potent, and even a single dose is enough totrigger hallucinogenic effectsonce your toxin level hits 10 percent. Below are the severity levels for Psilocybin Poisoning.

While not deadly, Psilocybe Cyanescens starts a ‘trip’almost immediately, so consume with caution, especially if you’re not prepared for the disorienting side effects.
