Staying alive inOblivion Remasteredis more difficult than we’d care to admit, especially if you’re struggling to find a good combination of armor pieces to protect yourself. If you’ve chosen to make Heavy Armor your gear of choice, then you’ll be ecstatic to see the sheer variety of protective options available to you.
However, given the plethora of powerful protective Heavy Armor pieces you can find throughout Cyrodiil, we’ll behighlighting some of the best enchantedHeavy Armor pieces to choose for your build. While Heavy Armor istypically for warrior classes, you can mix things up with these flexible armor pieces.
Armor enchantment magnitudes for leveled items are for the level 30+ version, where applicable.
8Cuirass of the Blood Legion
The Cuirass of the Blood Legion is an excellent starting Heavy Armor piece that you canfind in the different Oblivion Gate realmsscattered across Cyrodiil. It may only have a single enchantment, but the boost to your defensive stats is much appreciated.
This armor will begin to drop more often once you get to around level 15 or 20 and can offer you plenty of base defense to compensate for the lack of varied enchantments.
7Count Cirion’s Helmet
Count Cirion’s Helmet is a superb option for builds that favor a full heavy armor set, inclusive of a shield, which will be improved by Count Cirion’s Helmet. This unique helmet is available as a reward fromthe Ghosts of Vitharn side questfound in the Shivering Isles.
Its unique visual design makes this helmet stand out from the rest and can form a powerful combination with some of the other best Heavy Armor pieces to come, which can further boost your Block.
6Cursed Shield Of Retribution
The Cursed Shield of Retribution offers a powerful primary enchantment that is so strong, it also comes with a negative effect to balance out its power. However, battlemage characters might not even notice the debuff, depending on how you build your character.
If you use the Atronach Birthsign, then you already have the Stunted Magicka debuff, so there is no drawback to using this shield.
Reflecting general damage makes this an extremely powerful shield, as anything you block has a chance of ricocheting back at the attacker.
5Spell Breaker
Spell Breaker is one of the most iconic shields you may find in Oblivion Remastered, as this Dwarven shield boasts a high base defense and provides additional protection against spellcasters. Reflecting spells at their casters will help you do indirect ranged damage even if you’re only using a melee build.
This additional flexibility to counter ranged attacks is easily this shield’s defining quality, though it’s a beautiful piece of gear to look at as well.
4Forgemaster’s Amulet
This armor piece is only available from the body of the Forgemaster at Sundercliff Forge, which is part of the Unearthing Mehrunes' Razor quest. While it might not strictly offer more useful enchantments than an item like Spellbreaker, the competition in the shield slot is much higher than for amulets.
While this amulet isn’t technically a piece of Heavy Armor, it’s an integral piece for builds focused on using and maintaining Heavy Armor. Given its lack of competition, this amulet should be on your person at all times.
3Thorn Shield
The Thorn Shield is a fantastic endgame shield choice available as a reward for completing theTo Help A Hero side questin the Shivering Isles. Again, the only major drawback to this shield is the high-level requirement to acquire its best version.
If you’re impatient, you can probably grab this shield at level 25 instead of 30, since the former version offers 20 Block and 20 percent Reflect Spell.
However, if you’re willing to wait and get the best possible version, the Thorn Shield will be a huge part of any build that focuses on deflecting damage, particularly spells. Your Block efficacy will also be much better given the massive fortification bonus.
2Madness Set
The Madness Armor set is a big commitment to acquire, as you’ll need to find all six Madness Matrices and also gather enough Madness Ore (16 pieces) to craft them all.
You’ll need to visit Cutter at Cutter’s Weapons in Crucible within the Shivering Isles to gain access to this set.
While you won’t be able to capitalize on the Blade and Blunt buffs simultaneously, they’re still appreciated since you have the option to use either weapon type depending on your build.
1Atronach Set
The Boots and Hands of the Atronach form one of the most potent dynamic duos of the best Heavy Armor pieces in Oblivion Remastered. These two pieces only use your boot and gauntlet slots, leaving you with three other armor slots, plus rings and amulets to further strengthen this build.
Combining these armor pieces will grant 70 percent resistance to Fire, Frost, and Shock damage, which is a massive boon against these elements. The option to augment your other pieces to give 100 percent resistance or move in another direction is one of the best parts of these top-tier Heavy Armor pieces.
