Death Note’s Kira case is one of the most famous mysteries inanimehistory. The Death Note allows the user to kill anyone as long as they can write down the victim’s name while thinking of their face. In the hands of Light Yagami, a genius high school student, Light wields its powers to wipe out criminals far and wide to create a better world.

While misguided, Light is still incredibly smart. While he goes against L, the world’s greatest detective, he also makes mistakes along the way that can be fatal towards his plans. L is also just the perfect enemy for Light, since he tries to solve the crime the right way.

Can Kira Pass The Goku Test?

Can Goku beat Kira? It wouldn’t be the first time Goku almost died of a heart attack. However, despite being carefree and not the brightest bulb, Goku has plenty of connections to pull from. If people suddenly started dying, Goku would be the first to know about it.

King Kai would be able to give surveillance while Bulma could work in the background, putting the pieces together. Even without the Dragon Balls, Goku’s resources would eventually lead him to Light. According to the rules of the Death Note, the name needed to kill Goku using the book would be Kakarot, giving him immunity even if he shows his face.

Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom holding many books with his tentacles.

9Koro Sensei - Assassination Classroom

Too Fast And Too Smart

Koro Sensei is not only one ofthe most intelligent characters in anime, but everything about him counters what the Death Note and Light are capable of. L was only human, but Koro Sensei can move faster than the speed of light across entire cities.

His face is also permanently transformed, preventing Light from being able to use his primary weapon against him. Koro Sensei is also highly motivated and can think just as fast as he moves. If Light makes too much of a splash, Koro Sensei would track him as soon as Kira’s presence is known.

8Detective Conan - Case Closed

Solving Crimes On The Low

In terms of intelligence, Detective Conan has the best chance of solving the Kira case and making it out unscathed. Not only does he have the element of surprise due to his child body, but this also acts as a defense for Light trying to figure out his identity.

While Light has experience fighting off great minds such as L, Near, and Mello, all of them made themselves known to Light atthe start of their investigation. Detective Conan would do a better job at keeping his investigation covert.

Maomao testing a theory in The Apothecary Diaries.

7Xiao Mao - Apothicary Diaries

Finding Answers But Not Always Sharing Them

Funnily enough, given enough clues, Xiao Mao could possibly piece together the mystery behind the Kira case. She has plenty of experience solving mysteries involving poison and can even give a diagnostic as to what causes of death afflicted the victims.

While Xiao Mao would be dealing with something supernatural, most of the mysteries she solves happen while her enemies are unaware of her presence. In fact, most of the palace doesn’t even know just how smart she is. Solving the mystery wouldn’t be beyond her capabilities if allowed to to deal with it in her own way. Whether she says anything once solving the case or simply minds her own business is another story.

6Saiki K. - The Disasterous Life Of Saiki K.

A Comedic Ending For Light Yagami

Saki K may be a comedy anime protagonist, but his powers would allow him to pinpoint the source of the Kira murders. With the ability to read minds, use clairvoyance, and alter reality, Saki K could easily hear Light’s endless inner monologs about his strategies going just as planned.

Without the need or desire to solve the case properly, Saki K could comically end the whole fiasco with a snap of his fingers. Sure, L had the desire to beat Light at his own game, but Saki K would just see it as an inconvenience and put his foot down.

Sora and Shiro from No Game No Life wearing their royal attire and playing a game together.

5Sora And Shiro - No Game, No Life

It’s All Just A Game

Sora and Shiro may not be detectives, but they are masterminds when it comes to playing games. At times, this is what the Kira case feels like, especially with L making moves such as the Lind L Taylor broadcast that tricks Light into exposing himself.

In this scenario, Sora and Shiro would notice Light’s behavior and responses as a player. This would be the key to winning. Simply goading Light into taking on more of their challenges until he makes a fatal mistake. When the world is just a game, this case could turn out to be an easy one to win.

Loid Forger shoots his gun in Spy X Family.

4Loid Forger - Spy Family

Infiltrating The Enemy

Loid Forger is the greatest spy that Westalis has to offer. With hundreds of disguises at his disposal and skills in infiltration, it wouldn’t be long before Loid could hone in on Light Yagami’s location.

While Loid has never dealt with anything supernatural and can be clueless in regard to his own family, he has protection due to his disguises that can hide his face. This makes it difficult for Light to use the Death Note unless he can say for sure that he knows what Loid’s true face looks like as well as his name.

A bloody Makima emerges from the train in Chainsaw Man.

3Makima - Chainsaw Man

A Show Of Force

Let’s face it, Light would break if confronted by Makima face to face. Light’s biggest advantage against L is that he was simply facing off against another human being. Against Makima, being able to write her name in the Death Note is not even guaranteed to work.

If Makima gets a whiff of Light’s powers, she could even deal with the situation remotely using her long-distance powers. Her intellect and ability to control others would be game over for Light, since even his Death Note cannot get other people to kill for him. In fact, she might even conscript Light into working for her.

Old Joseph Joestar tricks The Empress in Jojos Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders.

2Joseph Joestar - Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Joseph And The Speedwagon Foundation

Joseph Joestar is clever enough to avoid detection even when Jonathan’s body formsa connection between the Joestars and Dio Brando. With the Speedwagon Foundation backing him up, and Hermit Purple’s ability to show faraway locations at the cost of a camera, Light’s identity would be easy pickings.

As clever as Joseph may be, the case would be over and done with quickly while Joseph has breakfast with his family. There wouldn’t even need to be a journey across the globe either. Once Joseph reveals Light’s identity to the Speedwagon Foundation, it’s pretty much over.

Johan Liebert from Monster offering someone a drink.

1Johan Liebert - Monster

Out Manipulating Light Himself

Johan Liebert matches Light Yagami in terms of intelligence, charisma, and manipulation. Just like L, he does not go by his true name. If any matchup is going to come close to the battle between Light and L, it’s this one.

What gives Johan Liebert such an edge over Light is that, unlike L, he would be willing to get others to do shady deeds for him. In fact, due to his charisma, it wouldn’t be too much of a reach to say that Johan could simply solve the Kira case and use this knowledge to manipulate Light into doing his bidding.
