Vaughn’s story relies on you helping him do his job and earn his keep around the house: this rat trap, despite having been laid out for a while, has never actually caught a rat before. Find some cheese for Vaughn and buy him some rats to help out.
Where To Find Vaughn Trapp
One of the first things you’ll do when you arrive to your new home is sit down at the computer in your office and get to work. You can’t deviate much from this, but keep an eye on thatcloset in the officeon the first floor - you’ll need to head back there later.
Inside this storage closet,move the rugon the floor to reveal a hatch down into acrawlspace below the house. Speak with Trap Dorian if you’d like to beforeremoving the Dateviators and using the ladderto reach the lower level of the basement.
Here, you’ll see a few items: a time capsule and a key, but also amousetrap in the crawlspace. Speak with the mousetrap, and you’ll meet Vaughn Trapp, your fiery rat trap romance option.
You can lose some points with Vaughn by being too nice, so be sure to meet him where he is - a sassy guy like him likes someone to play ball.
How To Help Vaughn Find His Purpose
Where To Get Cheese For Vaughn Trapp
When you first meet Vaughn Trapp in Date Everything!, he tells you he’s a mousetrap who’s never killed a mouse, and he’d like to feel like he’s serving his purpose. As such, you’ll need tohelp Vaughn kill a ratto fulfill his dream.
To start, he asks forcheese, which he’ll need to set the trap and lure the rats. While Michel Linn is his own fabulous culinary delight to get to know, your real goal here in finding cheese for Vaughn Trapp is to go back up to the kitchen andtalk to Freddy Yeti, your refrigerator.
If you haven’t met Freddy yet, introduce yourself and then speak to him on a subsequent day to collect the piece of cheese. Freddy will hand over a slice of cheddar, so with the cheese in hand, go back down to the crawlspace andgive the cheese to Vaughnby speaking to him again.
How To Help Vaughn Catch A Rat
Now that the cheese is in place, Vaughn notices there aren’t rats in the house for him to trap, so it’s up to you tofind a ratfor Vaughn. To do so, you’ll want to gospeak to Macback in the main part of the main part of your office - they’rethe computeron the desk where you briefly worked for Valdavian at the beginning of the game.
If you’ve not met Mac yet, you’ll need to go through part of their storyline andupgrade Mac’s processorbefore they’ll let you actually use the computer.
When you interact with Mac to purchase rats online, you’ll have two options, each of which defines how your relationship plays out: you may purchase astuffed rat plushie, or a box of dead rats. Should you select the box of dead rats, Mac will ask if you’re really sure before placing the order.
After the order is place, you’ll need towait one daybefore speaking to Vaughn again - Valdavian is capable of a lot, but you don’t seem to obtain the plushie right away. The following day during any time slot, head back down to the crawlspace and chat with Vaughn again to hand over the toy.
How To Change Your Relationship WIth Vaughn
Friends
There are two points where you’re able to lock in a friendship with Vaughn Trapp in Date Everything!. While you’ll need to give him the cheese and one of the rat options regardless to progress his section of the story, you’ve got two chances to ensure things stay platonic.
Love
There’s only one real path to Vaughn Trapp’s romantic ending in Date Everything!, it seems - you’ll need to help turn this rugged ruffian into a sweet softie. To end up in love with Vaughn Trapp:
After the Love ending with Vaughn Trapp in Date Everything!, he seems to disappear from the crawlspace, becoming inaccessible for the time being. Your Love ending will still be logged for completion, though, so don’t fret!
Hate
The best way tomake Vaugh Trapp hate you- and man, is he ready to do so - is by refusing to help him in his quest to catch rats and be generally discouraging. Vaughn is pretty aggressive, so you’ll have plenty of chances tobe rude back to Vaughnto turn the tides.
You’ll do quite a lot of chatting with Vaughn as you work through the story to bring him his first rat to kill, but along the way, you’ll find that Vaughn is pretty rough around his edges. He’soutwardly aggressivetoward you fairly often, and people trying to romance Vaughn will shy away from the rude replies naturally.
However, if you’re determined to make Vaughn Trapp hate you, you can always opt to be rude right back.Diminish his feelingswhen he tries to share them along the journey, andchoose every rude dialogue option.
Finally, when you resolve the questline to give Vaughn Trapp rats of some kind that you ordered off the internet using your computer, Vaughn will naturally begin to express his feelings. No matter if you’re on track for the Friends ending or the Romance ending with Vaughn Trapp, if youtell Vaughn you’re not interestedand that his interest is too much for you to handle.
