In the early section of the main story ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Martin Septim will often ask you to go to some place and fetch something for him. These quests are usually quite easy to do, unless the dungeon where you’re supposed to go isn’t exactly friendly to navigate.

As Martin describes it, Miscarcand is a dangerous place. No one has returned from it, which may likely be because they got lost inside. Miscarcand houses the Great Welkynd Stone, which is what you’ll have to find once you arrive at these Ayleid ruins.

Martin talks about the great welkynd stone in Oblivion Remastered.

How To Start The Miscarcand Quest

You can start the Miscarcand quest aftercompleting the Blood of the Divine quest. Martin says he’ll need one more thing to open the portal to Camoran’s Paradise by deciphering the Mysterium Xarxes. That thing is the Great Welkynd Stone.

Martin reveals that most of the Great Welkynd Stones have already been scavenged by people, butMiscarcand is still rumored to have one placed inside it. He also warns you that no one has returned from these Ayleid ruins alive, and you’ll have to be extremely cautious on your journey.

Soon after, you’ll find yourself in a roomwhere you can jump to the floor to the right or head straight through the door ahead. If you decide to jump down, the path down there will lead you back up through the same room connected to the door that’s currently ahead of you.

So, walk straight through the door to the front, there will bea door that can be opened to your left, and an iron Ayleid gate to your right. The Ayleid gate cannot be opened right now, so you’ll have to go through the regular door that you found on the left.

The door will lead you downstairsand onto a bridge through a much larger great hall. If you keep progressing ahead on the bridge, you’ll find yourself in front of another iron Ayleid gate with a hole in it.

In most ruins, you might find the button to open these doors right next to the gates themselves, but that’s not how it is in Miscarcand.

You’ll have to jump down from the bridge and into the great hall. You can either manually head toward the west in this great hall, or simplyuse the clairvoyance spell to find the path leading upstairs. As you do so, you’ll reach a room with a few goblins inside it.

Defeat the goblins, and you’ll findyour first switch to unlock all the gates here. After you press the switch and head upstairs, you’ll find yourself back in the room near the entrance, which has a door to the left leading to the bridge.

As you enter this new area, you’ll find many goblins and skeletons fighting each other. Look immediately to your left, or towards the eastern wall of this area, to find another switch to open locked doors. You’ll notice that the switch doesn’t immediately open any doors, and that’s fine.Head towards the south in this room, and you’ll find another gate leading downwards.

If you’ve missed the switch here, you’ll encounter the locked gates later on in this area and will have to return to this chamber to press the switch.

You’ll find yourself in another great hall, with many goblins and skeletons fighting on the bottom floor. You don’t have to jump down here. Keep progressing ahead, and you’ll come across another gate. This path will lead you downward to a dead endwith a switch to your left. This switch will open another gate in this area.

You’ll have to take a step back and head to the passage on the right. Now, head towards the north in this area. You’ll find a small pathway with two headless zombies here. Defeat them, and you’ll be able togo through the door leading to Miscarcand Morimath.

Either you can go left, or you can go downstairs to the right.First, you have to go to the left, and you’ll start noticing the greenish hue in the lanterns. You’re on the right path, and you’ll find the Great Welkynd Stone in front of you.

After you take the Great Welkynd Stone, the stairs will start popping up from the sides, opening a path for you to get down to the bottom floor, and for the enemies to get up.Picking up the stone will also awaken the King of Miscarcand, a lich that you’ll have to fight against, and he’ll be standing behind you.
