Recruiting all five flying squirrels inSuikoden 2 HD Remasterisn’t hard, so much as it is time-consuming. But it’salsohard, if you don’t know where you’re going. Each flying squirrel is recruitable in one specific area in the world, except for the first, which can be found in two.
This straightforward guide will help you find each of Suikoden 2’s flying squirrels. The first is a full-fledged Star of Destiny; the rest are still worth fetching, as they serve as party members in their own right. And they’re cute, to boot. Here’s how to lure Mukumuku and friends into your rebel band.
Where To Find Each Flying Squirrel
Mukumuku
The earliest flying squirrel to recruit by a substantial degree is alsothe sole Star of Destiny representative, which means a character who will be counted toward the108 Stars of Destinyrecruitment tally. Aiming for thebest endingin Suikoden 2 means finding every one of them.
We should add, however, that “best” is subjective. This is certainly thehappiestending, and it’s quite good, but some players may prefer something a bit darker. Still, it’s worth aiming for!
The character in question isMukumuku, and you can get Mukumukuveryearly in Suikoden 2. How early? Once you’re back inKyaro Town, before you meet up with Nanami. Travel toGenkaku’s Dojo, and you’ll seea lone tree to the north.
Unlike all those other trees, it’s not used to guide you along a path; it’s also a different sort of tree. You really can’t miss it - butit’s in our feature pic for this article, just in case.
Examine the tree thrice. This is important; you have to do it three times, or else Mukumuku won’t appear. Once you’ve done so,Mukumuku will pop down, and he’s officially a party member. He’ll join at level 2, and you’ll find that he has very little to say about any of this.
If you skip this chance, traverse the world map between the Greenhill settlement and the Greenhill/Muse Borderwith a slot open in your party, and Mukumuku will eventually appear.
The Remaining Squirrels
The remaining squirrelsmust be recruited in a specific order, and they mustall be acquiredafterMukumuku. To make things easier, takeStallionalong when you’re searching, as they must be locatedwhile traveling on the world map, and Stallion can boost your walking speed.
Here’s the order, as well as the location for each. Just remember tokeep at least one slot free in your party, or else they’ll not pop up!
It’s commonly been reported thatif it’s taking too long for a flying squirrel to appear in a battle, you shouldenter one of the settlements, and then return to the world map, which “resets” the RNG. We can’t independently verify this, as we had no real trouble with it, but go ahead and give it a try if necessary!
