Expedition Journals are the main collectible inClair Obscur: Expedition 33.These remnants are all that’s left of previous Expeditions, and usually tell the tale of how each met their end. There are also some mysterious, hidden Journals that can be found in unexpected places, so be sure to keep a sharp lookout for the distinctive glowing diamonds!

Nearly every area in Clair Obscur has at least one Expedition Journal, and many have several. Even if you think you’ve searched a place thoroughly, it’s entirely possible to reach the end of the game having missed some. Here are all the Journal locations in the entire game, so you’re able to go back and complete your collection.

Act 1 Journals

These Journals can be found on the first island; if you miss any, you can alwayscome back in later Acts.

Expedition 87

This Journal is along the main story path at the end of Grand Meadow, in the room with the first White Nevron.

Expedition 68

You can find this Journal along the main story path as you make your way through Flying Waters (after reuniting with Maelle), just before you see the first colossal Nevron.

Expedition 53

West of the northern exit from Flying Waters is the lair of the Small Bourgeon. Look in the tunnel behind the tiny White Nevron to find the lost journal of Expedition 53.

Expedition 63

In the Ancient Sanctuary, the main path takes a right into a cave with blue lanterns. Instead of following entering the cave,continue straightto find a circular area with a Paint Cage and the Expedition Journal from Year 63.

Expedition 52

In the Gestral Village,follow the signs for the Arenauntil you find the Gestral Doctor. Between the Doctor and the nearest Arena sign is asmall, hard-to-spot alleywith a hidden Journal.

Expedition 66

When Esquie opens the path out of his nest by knocking over the pillar,follow him by using the grappling hook.On the path beyond,look for a detour to the rightto find this Journal.

Expedition 62

On the Continent Map, go to the area near the Ancient Sanctuary where theChromatic Brulerlurks. Once you have Esquie,smash the blue rocks north of the Chromatic’s position; the Journal is beyond them.

Expedition 38

When you come to the area of Yellow Harvest with the ponds and statues,take the right-hand path and go up the hill. You’ll find the Jounral in the meadow at the top. you’re able to also find theDeath BombPictos in the crevasse to the right of the hill path, and a grapple point past the Journal that leads to a hidden merchant.

Expedition 44

In the same area of Yellow Harvest (Harvester’s Hollow), make your way to the rear edge of the main area, near the ruin that lets you start climbing the mountain. In the large meadow at the back is a dead Jar with a Jounral next to it. Be sure to collect it before you start climbing so you don’t have to backtrack.

Expedition 58

As you climb the mountain in Yellow Harvest, you’ll find a flag from Expedition 68 in a cave. Expedition 58 found that flag as well; look for a red cavern to the left, where you’ll discover their final resting place.

Expedition 78

In Stone Wave Cliffs, take the path uphill to the right when you see the first Nevron. Climb the rope there and continue onward to find Expedition 78 and their Journal. There’s also a Paint Cage in the cave beyond their bodies.

Expedition 56

After crossing the cave in Stone Wave Cliffs,take the left-hand pathto a dead-end with a street lamp and an Expedition Journal. The Nevron blocking the path is weak to Dark damage, so swap Sciel into your party if she isn’t already active.

Expedition 50

When you pass the Shrine to the Paintress in Stone Wave Cliffs,take the next leftfo find the remains of Expedition 50.

Act 2

These Journals are accessible in Act 2, including those areas on the first island thatcan only be reached by swimming. Esquie gains the ability to swimwhen Act 1 concludes.

Expedition 64

Swim southeast from Esquie’s Nest to the forested peninsula jutting out from the first island. Follow the path south and west to find an old outpost from Expedition 64.

Expedition 45

Swim west along the northern coast of the first island to find the Crushing Cave. Defeat the boss inside, then climb the rope behind it. Turn left at the fork to find Expedition 45’s Journal.

Expedition 36

The White Tree is on a small atoll west of the starting island. You can find this journal there, along with a music record.

Expedition 54

Swim east from Stone Wave Cliffs to find Stone Wave Cliffs Cave. Follow the path to the bottom, where you’ll find this Journal guarded by Chromatic Hexga.

Expedition 41

In the Forgotten Battlefield,turn rightand enter the trenches when you meet the Fading Woman. The corridor to the left inside, where glowing embers are visible, has this Journal.

Expedition 57

When you emerge from the first part of the Forgotten Battlefield, you’ll find a grassy area with old trebuchets and other siege engines. This Journal will be visible on the right as you come out of the trenches.

Expedition 48

When you leave the Forgotten Battlefield and return to the Continent Map, travel east to find the Stone Quarry. The Expedition Journal is at the rear, next to the White Troubadour.

Expedition 65

After recruiting Monoco, go to the back of the room where you dueled him and cross the chasm using the train tracks. The Journal will be on your left. Speak to the Grandis nearby to get a Recoat as well.

Expedition 47

Travel west from Monoco’s Station after leaving on the way to Old Lumiere. Follow the forest path past the Gestral Beach toward the Bourgeon; you’ll find campsite with a Journal on your right.

This Journal is automatically collected as part of the main story, in Old Lumiere. You’ll be able to access it when you return to Camp after the final encounter in that area.

Fracture Survivor

From the Expedition Flag on Left Streen (Maelle’s Path) in Old Lumiere,go through the ruined doorwayand take the route on the right in the large plaza beyond. Drop through the hole in the pipe andturn aroundto find a locked gate. You can open it using theOld Keyfrom the Festival at the beginning of the game, and retrieve the Journal from the Fracture beyond it.

Expedition 42

Facing the exit from Old Lumiere where the Manor was,go to the rightto find a trail and a climbing rope. Climb down the ledge to find Expedition 42’s camp and Journal.

Expedition 43

Once Esquie can break coral reefs,swim east of the Coastal Caveand go counterclockwise to the island in the northern inlet. Fight or avoid the Chromatic Reaper Cultist to reach the camp beyond it and get the Journal there.

Expedition 35

In the western channel accessible once you’re able to break coral reefs, look for an area calledFalling Leaves.Follow the trail through the ravine, and climb the ropes back to the surface. After fighting the pair of Glaises, you’ll find the last Journal of Expedition 35 on your left, next to the bridge.

Expedition 49

On the higher path in Falling Leaves, look ahead and to the right to find a gate watched by the Young Boy. Go back to the ravine, to thecave with the upside-down statue and Manor Entrance, and speak to the Statue.

Return to the Young Boy and he’ll open the gate, to the summit path.Look for the Journal on your lefton the trail after climbing the large rope.

Renoir

After the boss fight against Renoir in Old Lumiere,return to the place where you fought himand look for a hole in the garden wall. You’ll find a Manor Entrance against the back cliffs. Inside,go through the door to the master bedroom, where Renoir’s Journal is on the nightstand.

Expedition 40

When it’s time to fight the Axons in Act 2,swim north from the midpoint between the two of themto find an island with a Merchant named Grasanori. His camp has a Journal in it.

Expedition 69

In Visages’ Lair, take the Joy path, on the left. In the section with the mannequins made of flowers,keep leftand climb the ledge to find some unfinished climbing anchors and the Journal of Expedition 69.

Unknown

In the Anger section of Visages (the rightmost path), turn right when you see the miniboss mask over the exit; you’ll find a Manor Entrance. The second room inside has this mysterious Journal.

Expedition 39

In the Sorrow section of Visages’s Lair,climb the ledges to the right of the mask boss. The Journal is at the top.

Expedition 55

Keep an eye on the right side of the path to Sirene; there’s a Journal at the base of a trellis surrounded by Ballets, shortly after the first Expedition Flag after riding the floating platform.

Expedition 67

In Sirene’s Lair, defeat Glissando and ride the final floating platform to the Axon’s chamber. When you disembark,check the crates and bodies across the gapfrom youfor a Journal.

Expedition 51

From the entrance of Frozen Hearts, go as straight as the path will let you towards the rear, following the train tracks instead of entering the cave on the left. Past the floating train cars, you’ll find a small alcove with a Journal.

Expedition 34

The Crows is a small area on the west side of the map, south of The Reacher. you may find Expedition 34’s Journal there, at the rear left of the yard. Even though the location will be marked as dangerous if your team is lower than Level 65 or so, you can safely enter as long as youdon’t shoot the crowshidden throughout the area; the boss only shows up once they’re all destroyed.

Expedition 70

In the Tainted Lumiere section of the Monolith,look for a circle of market stalls with red and white flowers.There’s a small alleyway to the right where you can grapple across to some floating islands. Continue grappling along the right-hand path and fight your way past the Nevrons to find this Journal.

Aline

Inside the Monolith, when you find the gravesite in the Tainted Battlefield,enter the cave to the left. There’s a Manor Entrance there which leads to the Conservatory. Collect the Record there before moving on.

Act 3

These Journalscan only be recovered in Act 3, either because they are only accessible in areas that require flying or diving, or are unlocked by campsite storylines that don’t occur until late in the game.

Expedition 46

In Act 3,talk to Lune in campuntil she asks for help finding Expedition 46. Fly to the east side of Sirene’s Island and enter the new area there; Lune can open the gate byplaying a song on her guitar.

Inside,defeat the Chromatic Glissando. Expedition 46’s Journal is in the alcove behind it. The next time you return to camp, speak to Lune again to learn her final Gradient Attack.

After the second Expedition Flag in The Reacher,jump down from the ledge ahead and to the right. Defeat or evade the Orphelins that you land near, then go to theManor Entrance straight ahead, under the ramp leading back to the main path. There’s a Journal immediately inside.

Expedition 61

As you ascend The Reacher, you’ll find this Journalin front of the hot-air balloonto move on from the Foggy Area after fighting your way through the Veileurs.

Expedition 37

Fly to the Gestral Beach in the inland seasoutheast of Sirene’s Island, with the wall-climbing challenge. Just inside the entrance,look to the rightfor an easy-to-miss Jounral.

Expedition 84

Fly west of the Abbest Cave and look for a clearing in the forest where you can land. Here, you’ll findThe Fountain. Take the left-hand route and go past Blanche, the final Unfinished Nevron. The Journal is down the path behind them.

Fly to the place called The Canvas on a floating island southwest of the Monlith andrecover the Dessendre family portrait there.Place the portrait in the frame on the right-hand staircase in the Manor to open the door to the Atelier at the rear. The Journal is in the middle of the floor inside.

Julie, Verso

Fly directly west from the northern exit from Forgotten Battlefield; you’ll find asmall cliff with some Nevrons and ruined buildingsthat you couldn’t reach from below. Land and fight your way to the rear to find both these Journals. Julie’s Jounral is in thetents on the left, while Verso’s isat the rear of the pass.

Simon

EnterRenoir’s Drafts, south of the Axon Islands, once Esquie can dive, and fight your way to the far end. You’ll find a new area calledThe Abyss.Leap off the ledge at the end of the path fo findSimon, the game’s hardest boss. If you’re able to defeat him (and that’s a big if), you can collect his Journal as a reward.

Expedition 60

On your way to the final battle,look for a path to the rightjust before entering the Opera House. Stand at the edge and look into the water, thenask Esquie to retrieve the Journal glinting from below.
