With all kinds of unique fusion abilities, a special devil chart that may be unfamiliar to newcomers in this Megami Tensei title, and a litany of devils you can unlock, you’d do well to be a frequent visitor to the Goumaden while playing Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.
What Is The Goumaden?
While you’ll likely venture intoKounno-yaover near your agency inTsukudo-cho, the general goods shop with the owner to whom you can never give enough cash, you can’t access the Goumaden until a bit later into the first chapter. Should you try to now, you’ll simply be told that Victor isn’t in at the moment.
He’ll returnafter the Tsuchigumo boss fightduring your exploration of the Dark Realm, clearing devils in Dark Tsukudo-cho trying to solve the mystery of what happened in the Daidouji Manor’s basement. You head back to the real world after this section of the first chapter, so go over to Kounno-ya as you check out the map for other new features like Aril Rifts and Case Files.
If you’ve playeda Shin Megami Tenseititle or two before, you’ll be no stranger tofusing devils you’ve confined into higher-level demonsas you increase Raidou’s level and are conferred new titles from Yatagarasu. If not, well, welcome to the Goumaden in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.
There are plenty of important functions you may access in the Goumaden, including:
Devil Charts Versus Special Devil Charts
If you’re afan of Atlus games, you’ll know well how important it is that youmake a habit of registering your devils regularlyat the Goumaden in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army between missions. Some SMT titles allow you to release demons mid-battle, but in Raidou, you may’t confine new devils unless you have an empty tube.
But before you get into fusing new shikigami, you’ll want to register the devils you’ve got in your tubes, since you’ll need touse your devils for fusions to free up spacein Raidou’s tubes before Yatagarasu sends more along. Don’t start fusing your devils withoutregistering your current devils into the Devil Chart.
Youcanuse a devil for fusion without registering it first, so be careful unless you’re intending to backtrack and confine it again later.
For the most part, you’ll be using the standard Devil Chart. Through this method of registering devils in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Victor willuse the regular Devil Chart to save a demon as-isat the time you visit the Goumaden. This will log the devil’s current level, move set, and abilities for easy access later on.
That said, you’ll also have access to the Special Devil Chart in the Goumaden, and the difference between them is that theSpecial Devil Chart allows you to register the same demon with multiple builds. If you’re trying to change the final outcome of a more advanced demon’s build, you may easily use this chart to experiment and see which builds work best.
Early in the game, you’ll have a fairly limited number of slots, but you canbuy more slots in the Special Devil Chartfrom Victor right in the Goumaden in exchange for the yen you’ve been earning throughout your fierce combat trials.
His prices start of relatively low, at only 1,000¥ for the first slot, but the cost will increase as you continue to expand your Special Devil Chart storage space in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. That said, you’ll likely want to have a few versions of relatively basic demons to use in fusion, so it’s worth it tospring for upgrades when you can.
How To Fuse New Demons
Regular And Search Fusions: Create Powerful New Devil Familiars
The most standard method of fusing demons in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army will provide you with a slew of powerful new shikigami to add to your tubes, often granting access tohigher-level demons that can’t always be found in the Dark Realm. While you’ll confine plenty of demons in the Dark Realm and Aril Rifts for free, some simply must be fused.
The bright side to this is thatfusing devils allows you to customize their skillsets, since new shikigami inherit the skills their parent devils already know in the fusion process.
The exception to this rule is if you’re fusing a devil who’s learned a skill by studying one of your many skill books - if the demon in question has only read that book a single time, it cannot pass the skill down during fusion. You’ll need to have the demon continue to study the book of this skill before it masters it, which grants the ability to pass it on.
The primary ways you’ll do this throughout the game are byfusing two devilsand creating one new devil in the process, which you can do in two different ways depending on your familiarity withaffinity chartsandhow Demon Orders interactwith one another during fusion.
Victor will walk you through this at length, and can show you a visual chart combining Demon Orders and their expected outcome that will be logged in your Detective Journal for easy reference.
There are two primary methods of standard fusion in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army:
The only exception to fusions is that in the earliest hours of the game, Victor will not allow Raidou to fuse demons of a higher level. As such, you’ll need to dedicate some time to grinding for levels between main missions to ensure you’re able to always fuse the strongest demons in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.
Once the fusion is complete, you’ll have a short conversation with your new devil beforechoosing which skills, passive abilities, and Investigation Skills the demon inherits. While your choices are limited in the earlier hours of the game, eventually, you’ll need to pick and choose which to fuse onto the new resulting demon.
You may even receive a small gift from the demons you used in fusion, but it’s never guaranteed.
Special Fusion: Even More Powerful, Even More Parent Devils
Once you’ve worked your way through the main story in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army a bit more, you’ll be able to level up enough to control demons that result from Special Fusion, a more advanced method offusing new demons using multiple devils as parentsinstead of the standard two in Normal or Search Fusions.
These devils tend to be vastly more powerful than demons available through regular fusions or confinement in the battlefield, hybridizing several devils into one mighty new shikigami. These often require you tobe more selective about which skills these demons inherit, since they’ve got so many more on offer than regular demons.
Demons made in Special Fusions in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army are typicallygood candidates for the Special Devil Chart, especially if you’d like to build a few iterations of the same demon to use in different situations where elemental balance is important.
