Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is one of the most pleasant surprises of 2025, but every rose has its thorn, as this masterpiece presents a stiff turn-based combat challenge. Luckily, a turn-based RPG like this can be a breeze if you properly prepare your party members with the best possible weapons to maximize their potential.

While you could feasibly choose other weapons to suit a more specific playstyle, these weapons are generally the best choices for each character. If you’re building your character from scratch, use these weapons as the crux of your build, and you’ll be well on your way to creating the strongest party possible.

Gustave’s Lanceram in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

This guide includes spoilers for characters and events in Act Two and beyond. Read on at your own risk.

Gustave – Lanceram

Lanceramis a solid early-game weapon that will serve Gustave well and provides a solid damage option while he’s in your party. It’s not affiliated with any element, so the regular physical damage will be good against basically any enemies you can encounter while Gustave is the party leader.

In addition to its usefulness as Gustave’s best weapon, Verso can also use this weapon once he joins your party later in the game.

Lune’s Trebuchim in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Unfortunately,if you don’t get this weapon in Spring Meadowsearly on, it’s possible that you’ll miss the chance to use it with Gustave entirely until you start another playthrough.

Lune – Trebuchim

Lune’s best weapon,Trebuchim, leans heavily on her Stain mechanic, which deals more damage or applies additional status effects when certain Stains are applied.

At level four, the ability togenerate a random Stainat the cost of a single AP for a free aim shot is solid. Combining this effect with theadditional AP you receive for consuming Stains via weapon level tenwill help maintain a constant cycle of Staining and Consuming.

Maelle wields Medalum in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Finally, atlevel 20, you can use your Base Attack to generate two random Stains, which will accomplish two things:

You can augment these base attacks with some of the best Lumina choices to ensure you’re regaining the most AP possible and applying further debuffs to your foes via your base attack.

Monoco wields Joyaro in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Maelle – Medalum

Maelle’s best weapon isone of the most difficult to acquireif you miss the opportunity to get it early on during your adventure through the Gestral Village.

Medalumis easily Maelle’s best weapon choice fora powerful Maelle buildand should not be missed. If you haven’t completed the Gestral Village fights, pick Maelle to get Medalum.

Sciel wields Charnon in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Once you’ve secured this fabulous weapon, level it up to unlock each perk:

Virtuose Stance allows Maelle to deal 200 percent more damagewith no drawbacks and is easily the most potent stance to use for her. Considering the variety of powerful Burn-applying options Maelle has, likePyrolyse, this weapon is a must-have.

Verso wields Dualiso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Even if you want to ignore your Burn application skills, starting in Virtuose Stance is a big enough benefiton its own to justify using this weapon.

Equipping Luminas that increase your first-turn damage along with this weapon will allow Maelle to potentially one-shot most enemies at the start of the battle.

Using Maelle’sStendahlskill combined with this weapon, as well as thePainted PowerandAugmented First StrikeLuminas will ensure that your first strikes are nearly guaranteed to kill the enemy, unless they’re a particularly strong boss.

Monoco – Joyaro

Monocois arguably the most versatile character in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as you can build them to tank, support allies, or even inflict heavy damage as a DPS character.

With so many available options,Joyarostands out as arguably the most usefulMonoco weapon regardless of the build you choose.

The ability to start every battle inAlmighty Maskis a huge advantage, and can be capitalized on with all of Monoco’s skills.

Almighty Mask guarantees the additional effects of each skill are triggered, and skills that have varying magnitudes will always reach the maximum hits, AP, etc.

Even if you’re not using Monoco for damage, starting in Almighty Mask will still allow you to use support skills to help your allies to the best of your ability, but the additional two perks will likely convince you to use Monoco’s damage skills.

In addition to Monoco’s damage, he’s a Break specialist who can stun enemies via Break much more easily with this weapon. Whichever way you choose to deploy Monoco in your party, he can perform magnificently with the Joyaro.

Sciel – Charnon

Sciel is just as flexible as Monoco in her potential roles within your team, though her best weapon,Charnon, is mostly designed to deal damage.

While that’s not to say you can’t use any support skills on your Sciel, you should still focus on building her with the capability to deal damage, given how exceptional her critical hits can be in tight situations.

A quick look at Charnon’s perks explains everything about it:

The flexibility to apply Foretell stacks even when you’re dealing damage with critical hits ensures thatonce Foretell is applied, you can continue to apply more as long as you’re hitting Critical hits.

Verso – Dualiso

Verso’s best weapon,Dualiso, is superb, especially if you want to avoid using 40 Lumina points on Cheater. Verso relies on gaining Perfection stacks to reach his maximum potential, and this weapon allows him to do that quicker than ever.

These perks allow you to focus on building Verso with a host of Pictos and Luminas that will allow him to capitalize on base attacks, weakening his foe while strengthening himself before finishing them off with his skills.
