Hope is a luxury inFrostpunk 2, but not all luxuries are absent in the frozen wastescapes of the Frostlands. A lone outpost of a once-shining beacon remains as a forgotten testament to brighter futures. With your clever hand, raising this beacon from the ice will shine a light on your city’s prosperity and the hopes of weary travelers.
However, getting the resources to make this dream a reality is no small feat. You must juggle resources for yourself and for the beacon as you prepare to receive wave-after-wave of the injured, sick, and desperate. And so, the time for planning begins.
What Is The Beacon Of Hope Tale?
This tale is an optional subscenariofor any main scenario in Utopia Builder.
Adding a little extra spice to an already difficult area, you’ll be tasked withbuilding the Beacon of Hope and taking in waves of refugees.
To complete this subscenario, your tasks will include:
How To Complete The Beacon Of Hope
When you begin your building endeavours, your first task will be tobuild the Beacon of Hope. It is always located beside the city.
To reach it, you mustestablish a Logistics Bay and scout the Beacon’s outpost(if the outpost is not already inside your city’s starting area, like at Broken Shore).
Once you can reach the Beacon Outpost, you mustbuild a Trailway or a Skywayto connect it to your city.
After connecting your city to the Beacon of Hope, you mustbuild up and repair the beaconfor:
Following the repair of the beacon, refugees will begin entering the city in four waves. At this time, you shouldbegin researching hospitals.
You will eventually get a pop-up giving youan optional challengeto build those hospitals. You shouldalways accept thisto further raise your trust.
These hospitals are crucial to surviving this challenge. If more than 4,000 refugees die after entering your city, you will lose the scenario. Hospitals will help prevent this.
A new challenge will appear after approximately two waves of refugees have entered your city. This challenge will request that you:improve the Beacon.
To improve it, you will need:
By accepting the challenge, you willraise your Trust marginally, but more importantly: improving the beacon willsubstantially decrease the number of sick and injuredarriving in your city.
During this whole challenge, your main focuses will be:
To ensure your greatest success, you shouldsecure research into the highest grade of housing insulation and a large store of food, materials, and(most importantly)a heating resourceof your choice. This store should be enough to last a minimum of 35-50 weeksto over-prepare and give you your greatest flexibility and fighting chance.
The penultimate challenge of this subscenario and true test will be the finale at approximately 330-350 weeks into your scenario. You mustsurvive a Whiteout.
However, the Whiteout isn’t the worst part. During the middle of the Whiteout, your final wave of refugees will appear. This is the largest number of refugees of the four waves.
As the final refugees enter the city, they are at the greatest risk of dying due to no shelter during a Whiteout. Even if your game so far has been smooth, this section can undo all your hard work.
To prepare for this summit of difficulty, you musthave at least 160 free housing spaces availablebefore the Whiteout.
To prevent your heating resources running out before this, ensure that you have built housing districts but have turned them off prior to the Whiteout. Do not turn them on until the refugees begin to officially populate your city.
Thankfully, the Whiteout is relatively shortcompared to something as devastating as the Apocalyptic Whiteout subscenario.
Once the Whiteout concludes, you will have completed this subscenario challenge provided your refugees have survived. As a reward, you will be given thebuildable monument: Pillar of Hope.
Additionally, you should receive an achievement for completing this Tale your first time: Guiding Light.
