It’s been a while since we last heard anything aboutMindsEye, the debut game from ex-Grand Theft Autoproducer Leslie Benzies. When it launched in early June, the game was immediately panned for being a half-baked experience, resulting in the title becoming the worst-reviewed game of the year. That’sbefore Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact took its crown.
Immediately, its studio, Build a Rocket Boy,said it was “heartbroken” by the negative reaction before committing to improving the game via patches and fixes. In the time since, fixes have been coming out as promised. However, things took a turn on Friday, when Build a Rocket Boy said that a piece of major post-launch content would be delayed, along with noting that future updates will be far less frequent.
MindsEye Will Seemingly Improve At A Snail’s Pace From Here On Out
Taking to Reddit, a developer from Build a Rocket Boy outlined that a Hitman-themed mission that was slated for this month has been delayed indefinitely to a later date.
“We look forward to delivering this exciting crossover when the time is right and will provide further updates as soon as we’re able,” the post noted.
Beyond that, the dev also outlined the upcoming August update, which will let players skip cutscenes, along with other fixes. Another update in September will provide gameplay enhancements. That said, moving forward, those updates won’t be coming out as frequently, with the dev writing:
“Moving forward, updates may be less frequent, but with the aim for each to bring more meaningful changes.”
Naturally, that last bit didn’t go over too well with those who supported the game on Day 1. “What a joke,“one user wrote in response. “Way to say a lot without actually saying anything.” It seems like it’ll be a long while before the game is finally in a state that’s playable.
