Summary
A lot of Warhammer video game announcements were made on Thursday. The good news for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine fans is that the original game is getting a remaster. The even better news is it will be here in less than three weeks. However, amid all that good news, quite a few people missed the lack of any mention that the remaster will be coming toPS5.
The problem is, there doesn’t appear to be anything that needs to be cleared up, at least not yet. A little odd, as not only did the original version of the game launch acrossPS3andXbox 360, but last year’s very popular sequel wasn’t anXboxexclusive. However, there’s a different team handling the publishing of Space Marine’s remaster, and that might partly explain why nothing has been said about the game’s PS5 version, if there’s going to be one.
A Space Marine Remaster Is Right Around The Corner
Unless You Want To Play It On PS5
While Space Marine 2 was published by Focus Entertainment,Sega, which helped publish the original Space Marine, has taken the reins for the remaster. While Sega isn’t an Xbox studio - and even if it was, that doesn’t stop games coming to PlayStation anymore - some have pointed out that when the first details aboutMetaphor: ReFantaziowere released, also published by Sega, it gave off the impression that it would be an Xbox exclusive.
That wasn’t the case, of course, and a few days later it was confirmed that Metaphor would be on PS5 at launch too. Hopefully, someone will confirm that Space Marine’s Master Crafted Edition will be coming to PS5 over the weekend or early next week. In a world where Xbox is leaving exclusives behind, it would be strange for the remaster to skip PlayStation at launch.
Space Marine’s remaster was far from the only Warhammer project announced this week. Dawn of War is getting a definitive edition, there’s a Boltgun sequel on the way, and Space Marine 2 is getting a lot of additional content. However, the biggest announcement of the show was the reveal thatRogue Trader is getting a sequel called Dark Heresy.
