After its original announcement at TennoCon 2022,Soulframehas been something a lot ofWarframefans have been keen to play. Its pre-alpha ishas been fairly enigmatic, considering the test period’s invite-only nature. Without an invitation, excited players have waited out in the cold for a chance to get their hands on the title, and this weekend, those fans can thaw out while playing Soulframe.
Digital Extremes has effectively torn that barrier down by opening the Soulframe pre-alpha servers for all fans this weekend in honor ofDigital Extremes' TennoCon 2025 celebration. The pre-alpha, fittingly titled Soulframe: Preludes,is being madeavailable to anyone who has signed up on the Soulframe website. It’s worth noting this is the first time since the game’s announcement that fans will be able to play the title without an invitation.
Soulframesenior community manager Sarah Asselin mentioned earlier in July that fans would soon able to get their hooks into the dark fantasy Warframe sibling, and it appears this is what she was talking about. Unlike its big sibling, Soulframe is not an MMORPG, but it is still seen as a spiritual successor (or a fantasy-adjacent version) of Digital Extremes' already massively popular MMO experience, Warframe.
Players will embody their version of the narrative’s protagonist, the Envoy, and be able to build out their character in any way they like. The Digital Extremes tech demo live from the TennoCon 2025 floor showcased ranged caster gameplay that occasionally saw the Envoy swap for a small knife or bow, and a new trailer has been launched for the title that can be seen below.
