WhileBaldur’s Gate 3is finished with big content updates, as ofApril’s Patch 8(outside ofa range of mod drops for console players), Larian Studios has remained committed to fixing any bugs, ensuring the game remains playable for the tens of thousands who jump in daily.
The latest of these updates came yesterday, following the release of Hotfix 33. The hotfixstopped the Dark Urge from dropping major spoilersthroughout playthroughs, fixed the action wheel’s lag, andsupposedlyaddressed an issue with larger mods giving the ‘A task was canceled’ pop-up.
Unfortunately, though, while Larian sought to address issues with certain mods, it may have made things worse. Since the update, numerous reports have surfaced online with players sharing that hotfix 33 had broken their existing save file.
Baldur’s Gate Hotfix 33 Is Wreaking Havoc On Players' Save Files
Over on the Baldur’s Gate 3subreddit, numerous reports (no fewer than four) have surfaced over the last 24 hours with people upset with the fact that hotfix 33 had broken their game.
One console playerreportedthat all mods had been automatically enabled on an existing Honor Mode playthrough, and thus, they couldn’t load things up when trying to resume their adventure. This wascorroboratedby a second player, who lamented the fact that you can’t load a campaign without the mods you started with, meaning you can’t disable mods mid-campaign, or test them out without facing consequences.
PC players also reported issues regarding mods. One playersharedthat, “Mods won’t load, nothing’s changed,” while a secondreportedthat their game keeps crashing, likely due to the mods they have installed. Unlike console players, thankfully, modders (namelyNorbyte) have been hard at work on a hotfix of their own, with the first version of it live for PC players to download now.
Given that the issue is so new, Larian has yet to comment, but you’re able to imagine that they are aware of the situation and are working hard to fix it. For now, you Baldur’s Gate 3 players might just have to play something different.
