Summary
The first week of a newPokemon Trading Card Game Pocketexpansion usually causes some serious flux within the game’s meta. We’ve seen it with almost every set that has released thus far, including the likes ofSpace-Time Smackdown,Shining Revelry, andExtradimensional Crisis.
Strangely, though, after the first week’s competitive tournaments, it looks like existing decks are holding strong, with only a handful of new cards from Wisdom of Sea and Sky making their way into the battling scene.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Wisdom Of Sea And Sky Is A Slow Burner In The Competitive World
Of the current top ten decks in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (according toLimitless TCG), only two are centered around cards from the Johto-focused Wisdom of Sea and Sky.
Skarmory ex looks set to become one of the new expansion’s biggest nuisances, with a deck based on it currently sitting in third place, with a win rate of 56.76 percent. Its Steel Wing attack, when coupled with Jasmine and Steel Apron, can negate 80 damage per turn, making it an absolute tank. Magearna, its preferred partner, can hit for 80 damage from two Metal Energy pretty quickly.
Alongside Skarmory ex, sitting in ninth place with a win rate of 54.47 percent, is a deck featuring the now ever-present Silvally and the newly introduced Pichu. Pichu further accelerates Electric-centric decks, allowing players to take a Lightning Energy from their Energy Zone and attach it to one of their Benched Pokemon at no cost. This, when combined with low-cost cards like Type Null/Silvally and Oricorio, allows players to hit hard and fast.
Outside of these two,Extradimensional Crisis cardshave begun to reassert their dominance, with three of the top ten decks focused on the Ultra Beasts, and another two (excluding the Pichu deck) being focused around Silvally. This marks quite the departure from recent times, which have seenEevee Grove cards and Oricorio dominate.

It’s still early days in the Wisdom of Sea and Sky meta, and there areplenty of cards that look like they have serious potential. It’s evidently just taking players a little longer to figure them out.
