With thousands of items to sort through inOblivion Remastered,it’s understandable that you might have the urge to just sell everything you’re not using. While this is a great way to keep your inventory clean and your coin purse full, selling unique items is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in Oblivion Remastered.
While items like the Mundane Ring are incredibly rare, valuable items you can sell to make gold, other items won’t respawn, no matter how many enemies you defeat and loot. Since these items only appear once in the game, you should keep them stored away in case you ever want to switch things up.
8Skeleton Key
The Skeleton Key is a divisive item that prevents you from breaking lockpicks while this item is in your inventory. Unfortunately, this means that your lockpicking skill will never increase, leaving several level-ups on the table. However, if you never break a lockpick again, you may just spam automatic attempts on every lock until it opens, without worrying about running out.
The best strategy is to leave the Skeleton Key in a chest while you’rebusy leveling up your lockpicking skills, then grab it once you’re happy with your level. Selling the Skeleton Key will never be worth it, as its potential to save you thousands of gold on lockpicks alone already offsets the 3,000 gold maximum you’ll receive from a merchant (despite its 5,000 gold value).
7Shadowrend
Shadowrend isone of the best two-handed weapons in the gameand arguably one of the coolest-looking models to boot. Even if you’re not running with a two-handed build to start with, it’s possible to pivot to another weapon at any point during your Oblivion Remastered playthrough.
With that possibility in mind, keeping Shadowrend is the smartest choice possible. Plus, you only receive this weapon as a reward toward the end of the Shivering Isles questline, so it’s a great souvenir to display in your house if you’re set on using other weapon types.
6Staff Of Sheogorath
Speaking of the Shivering Isles, another of its unique items is a must-keep regardless of your build. The Staff of Sheogorath might not immediately appeal to you, but its ability to freeze all targets within 75 feet of you is unique and worth testing out during your run.
While this is the Staff of Sheogorath, Jyggalag’s voice speaks when you use it.
This staff is essentially a ‘get out of jail free’ card that can help you survive even the bleakest encounter. If you are considering selling it due to the high cost to recharge it, that can be mitigated by using the Font of Madness in Sheogorath’s Throne Room, or by using a Varla Stone.
5Ring Of Lordship
The Ring of Lordship is the third unique item from the Shivering Isles that you should never sell, especially if you get the level 30+ version.
If you do the Shivering Isles early in your run at a low level, it’s possible to get an inferior version of this item. It’s not worth using in that case, but it’s still a nice vanity item to display.
If you hold out until you may get the best version possible, you’ll enjoy a ring that gives 32 percent Chameleon, resists poison by 55 percent, and fortifies Endurance by 20 points. This is a great item to pair with other Chameleon rings, and can be a massive component of a good sneak build.
4Saviour’s Hide
Saviour’s Hide is theunique reward received from Hircineafter completing the associated shrine quest. While this piece of armor’s 25 percent resistance to Magic isn’t particularly game-breaking, it’s a solid effect that will help any character to deal with mage enemies more easily.
More than that, Saviour’s Hide is incredibly good for fashion-forward armor setups, as this is the only cuirass in the game to feature the unique wolf’s head design. If you want to intimidate your enemies and look like a badass Daedric champion while doing so, you’ll want to keep this item around.
3Dawnfang/Duskfang
Dawnfang, also known as Duskfang in the evenings, is one ofthe most powerful unique items to use in Oblivion Remastered, thanks to its unique transforming properties. This is the final unique item worthy of your attention from the Shivering Isles, and it offers a powerful two-for-one option.
One of the best qualities of this sword is its self-sufficiency, as the item likely won’t ever have to be repaired, as it regains 100 percent durability every time it changes forms. Based on its appearance and convenience alone, this weapon will never be worth selling, even if you’re completely broke.
2Ring Of Khajiiti
Similarly, the Ring of Khajiiti isone of the best rings in the game, and its unique appearance makes it one of the best-looking ones to boot. This is another powerful Chameleon-based item that will be a major help in your Thieves Guild quests and should be kept on-hand for that alone, even if you don’t usually sneak.
If you don’t usually invest in Speed or your Sneak skill, then this ring is the best temporary solution you’ll find, and the gold you’ll earn from selling it can’t replace the functionality of this ring.
1Gray Cowl Of Nocturnal
The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal is, without a doubt, the most impactful unique item in Oblivion, as it essentially allows you to swap between two personas: yourself and the Gray Fox. When you’re wearing this as the Gray Fox, you’ll hear unique dialogue options whenever you talk to someone in Cyrodiil – the only item with such a strong effect on roleplaying.
Furthermore, the mask allows you to Detect Life for 125 feet, fortifies your Sneak by 25 points, and grants 200 points of Feather, massively upgrading the amount of gear you can carry without penalty. Don’t you dare sell this to a merchant, lest it fall into the wrong hands.
