Death Stranding 2has a bunch of colorful characters, most of which you’ll get along swimmingly with. Then there are those that are a bit more abrasive to the average fan, such as the ever-threatening Higgs,or the annoying little doll attached to your hipthat won’t shut up talking about how loud sniper rifles are. However, neither Dollman nor Higgs hold a candle to the game’s true villain - The Adventurer.
You’ll initially bump into The Adventurer without knowing it, by taking on a mission for The Dowser that has you recover the poor guy from an enemy base nearby. You’re tasked with bringing his unconscious body back to The Dowser, only to find he jets off again without a single word to his true home, a small base in the mountains that you gain access to towards the back side of the game.
Death Stranding 2 Players Really, Really Hate The Adventurer
Here is where you’ll begin to understand why the Death Stranding 2 community absolutely loathes the man. Instead of acquiring stars for his base the standard way, each star is gated until you go off and rescue The Adventurer from a variety of pickles he’s found himself in, whether he’s stranded on a snowy mountain, or unconscious in BT territory.
Of course, lugging a man’s body across the map isn’t great at the best of times, but this is made ten times worse by the fact The Adventurer lives in the mountains, and that fans seem to think he’s actually just faking his injuries to get a free lift back home. You’ll find a variety of different posts on the Death Stranding subreddit, each one describing how much they want to drop The Adventurer into the nearest tar lake.
In a post by Caucaunikki, a user called games-and-chocolate says the man is “truly arrogant”, pointing to a picture of him lounging on a bed with his thumb up once following one rescue attempt. Another user called Besch16 rightly points out that every time you get back to his base, he immediately wakes up, suggesting he’s just too lazy to walk back, while Tiredjavelina thinks that he just “likes being the damsel in distress”.
Another post from a user called StopReadingThis-Nowjust includes a picture of Sam with a rifle to The Adventurer’s head, with a reminder from a user called Freaking_Username to turn on lethal rounds so he’s “100% dead”. The Adventurer will even destroy your structures sometimes to put up some of his own,as a user called Tbmode found out after his zipline system was dismantled. He’s truly a menace, and really makes you wish incinerators were a thing in Death Stranding 2.
