Contrary to the number of reviews on Steam and mobile app stores, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond is incrediblyfree-to-play friendly. Sure, the crafting system is rougher than the original Shadowverse by quite a bit, but the amount of cards, Rupees, and Vials that you receive when first starting the game is significant.

So, how do you decide what craft to choose so your vials don’t go to waste? Using the free practice decks is an excellent way to try them out and see which one melds with you the most, but if you’re trying to maximize your in-game currency, then the following are for you.
Kuon, Fivefold Master
Homework Time!
Runecraft focuses on playing a myriad of spells to further reduce the cost of your other cards in hand, using a mechanic called Spellboost. The deck uses a control strategy to stall out until your later turns for an explosive burst of damage.
The downside of this deck is that it requires a lot of Legendary cards to maximize its full potential. You can easily pick up your free starter deck and get started with a single copy of Kuon, Fivefold Master, and as long as you craft a couple of cards like Blaze Destroyer and Homework Time! you’ll be able to keep up with most decks.
Rage Of Serpents
Orthrus, Hellhound Blader
Unlike from the original Shadowverse, both of the edgier crafts,Bloodcraft and Shadowcraft, are now eliminated from the game. The two crafts have now been combined into the newly titled Abysscraft. Both playstyles still remain, but with the small card pool that exists in Legends Rise, both decks end up being watered-down versions of their previous selves.
Aggro Abyss focuses on low-cost, high-stat units to go fast and aggressive. The deck can get you some points on the ranked ladder, but you’ll have to work for them, as it is generally agreed that Abyss is the weakest craft in the game. Don’t worry, though, you’ll have plenty of like-minded players carrying the torch of Abyss, like myself.
Valse, Silent Sniper
Albert, Levin Stormsaber
Between the two most prevalentaggro decks, Swordcraft is by far the better option. While picking the Abyss starter deck will give you a Cerberus, Hellfire Unleashed, the Sword one grants you an Albert, Levin Stormsaber, which can steal games as long as your opponent is at 12 health.
The value you’re able to generate with the low-cost Sword units is far greater than what you can squeeze out of Abyss, as most units will either buff each other for bigger attacks or will spawn another unit upon defeat.
Fan of Otohime
Twilight Dragon
If your favorite craft has a ton of cards that can deal Storm damage, then you’re probably sitting in a pretty good spot. Dragon is one of those crafts. You can get a ton of chip damage early with cards like Fan Of Otohime, and once you hit Overflow, you’ll be able to decimate your opponents.
Storm Dragon has an excellent early game and is able to control decks that tend to go wide, like Swordcraft, and if you pick up the starter deck, you’ll receive a copy of Garyu, Fabled Dragonkin, which will help you set up a board that’s difficult to crack.
Zirconia, Ironcrown Ward
Amalia, Luxsteel Paladin
While Aggro Swordcraft can steal games right under your opponent, Midrange can help you stabilize against other decks that can clear your board as fast as you can set it up. Midrange Sword wears its playstyle on its sleeve. It aims to play around the middle of the game by out-tempoing your opponent.
This deck requires a bit more legendary cards, so it’s a bit more expensive to craft, but the results will feel like you’re leading a great army of warriors.
Unholy Vessel
Lapis, Shining Seraph
The meta in Legends Rise seems to agree that Storm damage and aggressive decks are the move, but what if you’re a control player? How do you compete against the fast and burst decks? Havencraft might be the way to go for a player like you. This deck has an amazing end game with cards like Jeanne, Saintly Knight, that can buff your entire board, and if timed correctly, you may summon a ton of Holy Falcon cards to overwhelm your opponent.
The deck is a bit harder to play, so it’s not super recommended if you’re just starting out with Shadowverse, but it has incredible board wipes that’ll keep you hooked.
Alouette, Doomwright Ward
Orchis, Newfound Heart
Artifact Portalcraft is by far the undisputed best deck in the format. The deck has an excellent early game that can generate tons of artifacts and an even better late game with cards like Ramia, Sonic Boom, that can keep you healthy for you to summon out your giant mech next turn, or burst your opponent down.
This is an excellent way to easily pick up a competitive deck, but you will have to make a hard decision. you’re able to pick up the Artifact Portal starter deck to get your hands on a copy of Ramia and a couple of the golds that you’ll need, or you can grab the Pupper deck to get a free Orchis, the de facto best card in the game.
Killer Rhinoceroach
Godwood Staff
What is more free to play than not having to craft any legendary cards? For the amount of vials that you’ll need to craft a playset of a single legendary card, you can craft the entirety of the gold cards needed for this powerful tier one strategy.
Roach Forest is a hard deck to pilot, as you’ll need to make decisions on when to set up a board and when to clear your opponent’s, but with the help of Killer Rhinoceroach, you can get away with OTK’ing your opponent without them even realizing.
