Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4is here, providing the older gamers among us with a hit of nostalgia while giving a new generation of fans the chance to play polished versions of more games from the series. While the remaster’s arrival has been largely celebrated, there’s been widespread confusion regarding how exactly we’re supposed to access the game’s teased Bikini Bottom area.
The inclusion ofSpongeBob SquarePantscontent in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has been teased ever since the game was shown off during April’sSwitch 2Direct. However, now that its here, some are claiming they can see SpongeBob’s house in 3 + 4’s Skater Island level, while others saying they are being met with nothing but a big open space upon arrival.
There is a Bikini Bottom in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
If you can’t see it, this might explain why
If you have followed the instructions that have been shared in various places online detailing how to find Tony Hawk’s SpongeBob easter egg but don’t see anything, don’t worry, you’re not hallucinating. Those who have seen the iconic row of Bikini Bottom properties in Skater Island also aren’t seeing things. There’s an additional step you need to take to unlock the SpongeBob easter egg, and it’s probably something Activison needs to be more clear about.
A post shared byKxshyp0ponthe THPS subredditshows the area with and without the SpongeBob homage. The post, and some of the replies, claim that the content is locked to the more expensive deluxe edition of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, something that hasn’t been sitting well with owners of the standard edition. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear to be that simple.
Others have replied claiming that even though they’ve been playing the standard edition, they can see Bikini Bottom. That has naturally sparked confusion, and while I still haven’t been able to confirm it myself, the difference appears to lie in a free content pack. You can download the pack through the Xbox store onlineor on your console, and hopefully, once applied, the SpongeBob easter egg should appear.
As for why some people have been able to see Bikini Bottom while others can’t, and the confusion surrounding the deluxe edition, the content pack appears to have been a pre-order bonus situation. That means anyone who bought the deluxe edition would have had the content pack applied without needing to take any extra steps. That’s also the case for those who pre-ordered the standard edition, hence some not having to apply the content pack themselves and getting confused when people accused the game of locking an easter egg behind a more expensive version of the game.
One thing that is locked behind the deluxe edition is Tony Hawk’s Doomguy skin. Or if you want something even more intrinsically tied to Xbox, someone has already managed to add Halo’s Master Chief to the game.
