Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4includes a cheeky little nod to all of the rumours and discussion about whether Bam Margera was going to be included in the game.
Considering how belovedTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was when it launched all the way back in 2020, you’d think that a sequel containing the next two games would be a slam dunk. That’s not quite been the case, though, as it seems likecontroversy has followed Pro Skater 3+4 around ever since it was first announced.
While the issues with career mode are a big talking point, the fiercest debates all centred around one person - former Jackass star Bam Margera. Before he was finally confirmed to be in the game, there were tons of rumours and leaks arguing about whether he was going to be left out, or ifTony Hawk himself had managed to get him included.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 references the Bam Margera rumours
“A potentially major omission”
Of course, we all know the truth behind the rumoursnow that the game has released and Bam Margera has spoken out about it, but for a good while it was really unclear what was going to happen with him. It seems that even Iron Galaxy was aware of all the discussions, as there’s a funny little nod to it within the game itself.
When you first start out Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4,Bam Margera will be included as a purchasable skater in the Secret store. Once you’ve ponied up the $5,000 needed to unlock him, you’ll get to see his unique character description, which is entirely centred around the rumours of his inclusion.
Bam’s skater bio notes that he was almost a “potentially major omission” from the game that had fans worried about his inclusion. Very tongue-in-cheekily, it then asks whether Activision would really “leave one of the series' most beloved skaters behind”, before pointing out the obvious and saying “nope”.
A potentially major omission from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 had fans worried. Would Activision really leave one of the series' most beloved skaters behind? …nope
Considering how close the game came to not having Bam at all, the description is more than a little bit ironic. We really did nearly see such an iconic part of the series left out, but now that he’s made it in (minus any voice clips, though), we’ll all have to take it as a win.
