The King Is Watchinghas a ludicrous amount of things you need to keep an eye on as your Kingdom survives week to week. There are a ton of resources to keep track of, specific enemy counts on the way, and you have a limited capacity to use any of the buildings or constructions that you’ve already placed.
Coming in new, this can be a lot to keep track of. Once you’ve got some experience, you’ll know what to prioritize and what isn’t as big of a deal as it seems. But, if you want to come out swinging and have success early on, we’re here to help.
Use Pause Often
Things can spiral out of control quickly, and without you necessarily realizing that it’s happening until it’s too late to fix anything. Luckily, you canpause the time, as well as make it progress at one of three speeds.
Pause the timer all the time. Do it when you’re unsure what you need to swap into your view, how you’d like to mix your troops, etc. Anytime you’re unsure about what exactly you’d like to do,pause the timer, figure it out, and then resume.
Moving Buildings Temporarily Slows Production
When you move a new building into your King’s gaze, that building is going to have extremely slow production for a short period of timebefore it resumes normal function. This is not often particularly problematic, but it can create problems if you’re swapping buildings around a lot.
It’s also a huge issue in the middle of a battle if you’re relying on Hospitals; get those swapped in before the battle starts, or you’ll miss out on healing for a long period of a battle.
Use Up Resource Tiles
verify you’reusing up your resource tiles any time that you can without sacrificing production somewhere else. By the time you get to mid-game, you’re going to start running out of space in your Kingdom, especially when you’re just starting to play.
If you’vegot resource tiles that are nearly empty but not being used, they’ll be taking up valuable spacethat could instead be used for something that doesn’t need to be in the King’s Gaze to function, like certain passive buildings and troop barracks.
Save Basic Construction
It can be difficult to see where your Kingdom is going to be weeks into the future, andsometimes you’ll run out of resources that are crucial to your Kingdom’s survival.Basic Construction can be any basic resource and can save you from this, but only if you’ve held one back.
Spawn Troops To Capacity
You shouldgenerally always have Spawn Troops To Capacity toggled on. If you don’t, you won’t have reserves ready-made for situations where you start losing troops, and it’s very difficult to recover from zero when you’ve got enemies at your gates.
You can amass a pretty sizable backup force doing this, and it doesn’t require much upkeep, unless you start accruing losses.
How To Use Your Extra Gaze Slots
Sometimes you’ll be in a situation whereyou’ve got an extra gaze slot, but nothing too pressing to put into it. For the most part, you’ll want toput Wood, Wheat, or Water into it. These are used for many different things, and running out of them can be extremely difficult to recover from, particularly in the case of Wood.
Don’t Be Afraid To Remove Water
You start with multiple infinite Wells to gain water;don’t be afraid to remove these from your Kingdom if you run out of space. You can always put them back in if and when you need water, and you’ll be out almost no resources if that happens.
Grab A Big Well
In a situation where you need water quickly, it can be rough to spend that time grabbing that water, because the water is almost always grabbed exclusively to get a second resource that you need to actually create what you need to create.
It’s a good idea tokeep a Big Well ready for these situations. These are limited water resources, but they grab water at twice the speed of a normal Well. It’s going to help you gather what you need quite a bit faster, and could be the difference between wiping and winning.
