Nintendo’s big Partner Direct earlier today was a bit of a dull affair, especially if you had high hopes for the likes ofHollow Knight: Silksongor any kind of big Nintendo first-party bombshell. A lot of people finished watching the show disappointed, but none moreso than Persona fans, as they got hit with a pretty brutal double whammy following the reveal ofPersona 3 Reload’sSwitch 2 port.
For starters, it has been confirmed by a Sega representative (thanks GamesRadar) that Persona 3 Reload will be a Game-Key Card on Switch 2, which will be a massive blow to those that care about game preservation. With the release of Sonic Racing: Crossworlds on a full cartridge, there were hopes that Sega might have been one of the few publishers to buck the trend, but it doesn’t appear to be the case.
Then we have a similarly disappointing situation when it comes to Persona 3 Reload’s Episode Aigis DLC. Given that Persona 3 Reload will be a whole year and eight months old when it finally releases on Switch 2, it would have been nice to see Episode Aigis bundled in, especially since fans were rubbed the wrong way withthe story being locked behind an Expansion Pass in the first place.
However, not only is Persona 3 Reload available for pre-order for almost full price, it doesn’t even include the Episode Aigis DLC in its fancy $90 special edition either. If you want the DLC, you’ll have to fork up the extra $35 for the Expansion Pass.
Understandably, Persona fans aren’t too pleased with this pricing, as the port has already been branded a “ripoff” byTwitter users like HeroicGangster, while others are just numb to Atlus and Sega’s antics at this point. Still, you now have a decision to either buy the game for cheaper on PlayStation or Steam, or play a worse version of the same game that costs more on Nintendo Switch 2. Yeah, not really a tough decision this one.
