Twitch’s chief monetization officer has confirmed that the platform is already planning forGrand Theft Auto 6’s launch, while suggesting that it also thinks it won’t release with its version ofGTA Online.
No matter what,GTA 6 is going to be one of the biggest games of all time. I know it, you know it, Rockstar Games certainly knows it - pretty much everyone in the world knows it. It’s already beenreported that developers and publishers are living in fear of the next GTA’s release date, with some even confirming that they’removing release dates to avoid the Vice City tidal wave.
Although most of the planning and preparation for GTA 6’s launch from everyone outside of Rockstar and Take-Two is one that’s riddled with nerves, there are some companies that are actively excited for it. One such platform is Twitch, which is expecting some very big things from the game, as revealed in a recent interview with the site’s CMO.
GTA 6 isn’t out for nearly a year, but Twitch is already planning for its release
Those plans include hopes for RP servers and an expectation that Online launches later
As pointed out by Rockstar Inteland originallyreported in an interview by German site Mein-MMO.de, Twitch’s chief monetization officer Mike Minton has recently chatted about the site’s experience with GTA 5. Of course, that then led to a bit of insight into what’s being planned for the impending release of GTA 6 in May.
During the interview, Minton is asked about what Twitch expects for GTA 6, which caused the CMo to note that the platform expects it to be a “wave that builds over time”. Specifically, Minton says that the focus will be on the single-player campaign to start with, suggesting that even Twitch thinks that GTA 6 won’t launch with GTA Online.
Even with that in mind,Minton says that GTA 6 will “likely be the biggest game of our lives"and that Twitch plans on working with Take-Two to make it as big as possible for them. Minton says that the next cycle will be the online mode, which will be an “even more important segment” for the game’s life on Twitch, because “that’s where the magic begins to happen”.
Then there will probably be a cycle around the online multiplayer at some point later, which will be an even more important segment in the life cycle of this game on Twitch, because that’s where the magic begins to happen. - Mike Minton
Minton specifically says that he hopes roleplaying will be a part of GTA 6’s online mode at some point, whether it’s through official support or mods.Twitch’s CMO also notes that the game is only launching on consoles to begin with, so the PC phase will also be yet another thing to consider in Twitch’s “long-term perspective”.
