Killing Floor 3has launched to a surprisingly mixed reception, with players bashing the game onSteamthanks to its lack of text chat, battle pass, and “constant” crashes.

Ever since the first Killing Floor game released all the way back in 2009, the co-op survival series has garnered quite a cult following, which really picked up with its much-improved sequel, Killing Floor 2. With the first two games being so beloved, fans have understandably been very excited for Killing Floor 3, which just launched a few days ago.

While the trailers and early impressions for Killing Floor 3made it seem like it’d be an undeniable improvement over its predecessors, it seems that’s not quite the case. Since releasing earlier this week, the long-awaited third game has received a bit of a polarising reception, which is cemented by its current “Mixed” review score on Steam.

Killing Floor 3 doesn’t seem to be living up to expectations right now

“A huge number of problems”

After Killing Floor 3 launched on July 24, it was easy to assume it’d be a hit with fans, but one look at the Steam page shows that’s not the case.It currently has over 5,000 reviews from users, with a whopping 46 percent of those being negativeright now, resulting in a “Mixed” review score overall.

You might be wondering how that’s even possible, but the reviews make it pretty clear that there are a number of issues right now. One of the biggest bugbears from fans is the removal of text chat, which is a pretty big deal in a cooperative survival game. It’s also made worse by the fact that the game features a battle pass, which shows where the priorities lie.

The lack of text chat is far from the only issue that players have, though. Some of the other problems being mentioned on Steam include “constant crashes”, a lack of variety in guns and enemy types, and some missing features like not being able to switch perks during a match. To make matters worse, a lot of players think it lacks the “personality and charm” of the first two games.

While the user reviews for Killing Floor 3 might seem brutal, most players do seem to be having decent fun with the game, even with all of the noted problems. It just seems like most agree that it feels “more like an Early Access than a full launch” considering all of the smaller issues that are plaguing it right now. Here’s hoping they get exterminated soon.
