The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhas opened the floodgates to the ideas and possibilities of bringing back many classic games with a new look. A graphical update would make these other games look even crisper, and it would also be an opportunity to reintroduce these games to a new audience.
It’s a great opportunity to relive some iconic moments in gaming. It’s also important to bring back the gameplay experiences these games brought, making them a part of the modern line-up for current consoles. Some of these are bound to be difficult to bring back or consider, but if Oblivion was able to succeed, then these games can make a triumphant return.
Halo 2: Anniversary was very well-received and updated the visuals of the classic game, so Halo 3 is arguably the next best choice for updating the look and appearance of the game, and its overall UI.
Having updated graphics and the same fidelity from recent additions to the series would be a great way to reintroduce one of the most iconic games of a console generation. The Halo Master Chief Collection is the best source for getting the classic trilogy to be played on PC and Xbox consoles.

Bloodborne is one of the most discussed installments in the Soulsborne series by FromSoftware. Although it’s not the only installment that’s locked to PlayStation consoles, it’s the one many fans of the IP would love to see revisited in a remastered format.
Demon’s Souls had an incredible remaster that was for PS5, so having a new rendition of Bloodborne with modern graphics and being more accessible would be a great way to reintroduce this game and its unique playstyle and world to a new audience.
After the remake of Silent Hill 2, the rest of the classic installments of this popular horror series are open for remakes and remasters. The biggest contender to this is the first game, following Harry Mason as he searches for his daughter in the mysterious and dangerous town.
Silent Hill 2 took many notes and ways of remastering the original game from Capcom’s recent remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4. With that design idea in mind, making a fully remastered or remade version of the first Silent Hill and its direct sequel featuring Heather Mason would be a great opportunity, especially since there are a lot of terrifying set pieces andenemies to bring back.
Dante’s origin story, explored in the third installment of Devil May Cry, would be a great game to start a series of remasters/remakes for the series. The Nintendo Switch edition of Devil May Cry 3 delivered three new features that bring it closer toDevil May Cry 4 and 5,including the ability to change styles and switch weapons during gameplay as opposed to the original release. This would make the full graphical remaster pretty easy to accomplish while keeping the classic feeling of the game.
The biggest charm of Devil May Cry, outside the engaging combat, are the dynamic cutscenes that show some impressive parkour on Dante’s part. All these sequences were done with photo-accurate motion capture on the game’s engine. An upgrade on the visuals while returning to Temen-ni-gru and facing the many demonic inhabitants would be great to see.
Fallout: New Vegas is arguably the best modern installment of the Fallout series that Bethesda has created. Taking place in the nuclear ruins of the Mojave Desert, you survive an assassination and get embroiled in the conflict over the region by joining several factions. Coming back to the world of Fallout through this installment, especially if it gets a graphical upgrade with Unreal Engine 5.
Even though Obsidian is doing its own stuff after the split from Bethesda, it’s still possible for Bethesda to reach out to Virtuos so that they can work together for another graphical overhaul through this installment.
Theoriginal Greek Sagaof God of War was a major part of the overall series. From battling Ares to combating all of Olympus, Kratos’s first journey of bloodshed and vengeance should be brought back to the modern audience and fans with new graphics, updated controls, and accessibility, the same way Oblivion got its remaster.
The original God of War trilogy is iconic for its portrayal of Kratos’s brutality against Gods, monsters, and other unfortunate souls caught in his rampage, the dynamic combat systems, and the beautiful attention to environmental detail. Some of the best boss battles and encounters in the series are a part of the Greek Saga, and it’ll be great to see them again.
Gothic 2 is the highly proclaimed sequel to Gothic. With the remake of Gothic confirmed, it would be great if this sequel got its own adaptation afterward. The story continues the journey of the Nameless Hero, who is summoned to battle a legion of dragons coming to the world.
Gothic 2 was an overall improvement in combat controls, open world exploration, and NPC interaction from its predecessor, so all that really needs to be touched up is the graphics, which were one of the few criticisms against it.
The first fully 3D installment of The Elder Scrolls series, and where many of the iconic elements of the series started showing up. Morrowind revolves around the struggles of the Tribunal, a triumvirate of god-like beings ruling over Morrowind, and their struggle against the demigod Dagoth Ur.
Your character plays a pivotal part in this plot, and within the limits of the game itself, you’re free to explore and engage in the world as you desire. Oblivion’s remaster brought into question the idea of revisiting this classic with the same level of fidelity Oblivion received. Morrowind is the next possible and desired option.
