WithElden Ring Nightreign, a lot of muscle memory has to be undone. While it undeniably looks and feels like Elden Ring, Nightreign is a far cry from the experience it spawn from. This roguelike endeavour has much like build planning available to you, focusing instead on moment-to-moment decisions and making the best of what you’ve been given.
All of that said, the vast majority of weapons from Elden Ring return here, and they are just as powerful as before. So even if you’re able to’t guarantee if you’ll find them, you’ll want to make sure you pick them up if you do. Some of them even have pre-set skills you can rely on appearing.
Many weapons have had their scalings changed in Nightreign, so check them out in the Sparring Grounds to know who they would fit best.
10Hand Of Malenia
Best On Executor
Feared throughout the gaming community in the original game, Malenia is graciously absent from Nightreign, though her spells and weapons still make an appearance, randomly appearing in your expeditions. These weapons were already powerful, but Legendary weapons take that even further now with unique effects.
Hand of Malenia already had amazing length, but it comes with an extra effect now too. Malenia’s Great Rune originally gave you the ability to regain recently lost HP by attacking enemies. Now, that is a default trait of the Hand of Malenia, rewarding aggressive play.
9Morgott’s Cursed Sword
Best On Wylder And Raider
While Malenia might have given us a rest, Morgott has not, frequently appearing as the Fell Omen and happily swinging around his Cursed Sword. Sadly, defeating him does not grant you it. You would have to hope fate is kind to you.
Like before, it does incredible Blood Loss and some extra fire on top, but it’s unique effect sometimes adds cursed blood slices to the end of your attacks to double up on the damage.
8Flamberge
Best On Wylder
Legendary weapons are great, though obviously quite hard to come across. You’ll actually bespending most of your run with Uncommon weapons, and maybe some Rares by the end. But those weapons are still incredibly powerful, and most importantly easier to find. The Flamberge is one of the best Greatswords you’re able to find.
With Wylder, you can take advantage of his faster moveset while still being able to deal Blood Loss. You can never guarantee the Ash of War it will have, but the added Blood Loss on top, combined with Wydler’s Claw Shot, means you can easily tear through enemies.
7Commander’s Standard
Best On Guardian
The Commander’s Standard is a Halberd, and one that isn’t always easy to come across. Halberds are rarely the best choice of weapon either, making them ideal in the hands of Guardian who can use them with shields. What really makes Commander’s Standard stand out is its Ash of War.
Rallying Standard is a buff that enhances the attack and damage negation of you and any nearby allies. It is the perfect complement to Guardian’s support role.
6Black Knife
Best On Duchess And Ironeye
The Black Knife is another Rare weapon, so it might not be very common for you to come across it. However, it does come with a unique Ash of War just like it did in the original Elden Ring, and is a massive help.
The Black Knife can sap away the maximum health of an enemy so they can never restore past it. This can be a bit selective, though isvery useful against Nightlords like Gaping Jawthat can heal when they grab you. It is also one of the strongest knives in general.
5Carian Regal Scepter
Best On Revenant, Recluse, And Duchess
The Carian Regal Scepter is a Legendary weapon, and only one of its Sorceries are guaranteed to appear, Rennala’s Full Moon. However, if you are playing a magical character and come across this, it should be an immediate entry into your loadout.
The Carian Regal Scepter comes with a unique trait that is simply obscenely powerful. When casting any spell, there will be a brief period where you absord any spell that hits you and send it back as a burst of damage. This is completely complimentary to your own spells, letting you play defensively and offensively all at once.
4Godslayer’s Seal
Best On Revenant, Good Utility For All
When it comes to Sacred Seals, the Godslayer’s Seal is actually quite a common one, and that is great. One of its Incantations is liable to change, though you will always retain the Black Flame. And like Elden Ring, this is still just as powerful.
Black Flame of course deals Fire damage, though it also saps away an enemy’s health for a few seconds afterwards. This is all the more powerful with a character like Revenant, though anyone can take advantage of this. Even enemies resistant to Fire will have their health sapped the same.
3Bloodhound Claws
Best On Duchess, Executor, And Ironeye
There are few claws in Nightreign, so if you do come across them, it is likely it will be the bloodhound’s Claws you find. And for often you can find them, they are simply incredible.
They should be two-handed to get the full pair out, but they attack so quickly that you will build up Blood Loss rapidly. This is even stronger on Duchess, where Restage can double up on the Blood Loss to simply decimate enemies.
2Rotten Greataxe
Best On Wydler And Raider
The Rotten Greataxe is a Colossal weapon, making it the best on Raider, though Wylder also has the Stamina and Strength to support it. The Rotten Greataxe is powerful not just for its sheer power, but its Scarlet Rot.
Scarlet Rot is already a stronger version of Poison, and the Rotten Greataxe seems oddly common for how powerful it is. For not extra effort, you can deal massive damage and deal damage-over-time as well.
1Rivers Of Blood
Best On Executor And Duchess
In the original Elden Ring, Rivers of Blood was known for its sheer strength. Massive Blood Loss on top of an incredible Ash of War.
And in Nightreign, that hasn’t changed one bit. Yes, it is a tad rare, but it is so hilariously strong. Almost everything can bleed, and that means Rivers of Blood can defeat almost everything. And yes, Corpse Piler returns.
