Hollow Knightfans are recovering from yet another showcase with noSilksongnews, which issomething they’re very much used to by now. However, it stings even worse this time, because Silksong was at leastmentionedon theSummer Game Feststage, but only because it was the butt of a joke.
When announcing Deadpool VR, Geoff Keighley pretended to read a letter from the Merc with a Mouth himself. Here, Deadpool told Keighley to “skip that Silksong trailer”, so his VR game could be revealed instead.
Now, the Silksong community isn’t only in mourning, but it’s waging war. Ever since Keighley made that jab at Summer Game Fest, the Silksong subreddit has been full of (good-natured, semi-ironic) Deadpool hate, and it’s absolutely incredible to see.
Silksong Fans Declare War On Deadpool
As soon as you open the subreddit, you’re almost guaranteed to see a post going after Deadpool, in retaliation for the stunt pulled at Summer Game Fest. Some fans are taking the hate to another level, and are even creating artwork that depicts Deadpool having a not-so-great time. You have to admire the dedication to haterism.
Almost all of it is in good faith, and just part of the routine after a showcase comes and goes with no Silksong update. In fact, the subreddit is always up to something, as earlier this year,they just pretended the game had a release date. At this point, why not? There was also the timethey offered the subreddit itself as a sacrifice, but to no avail.
However, there are some who are actually annoyed that this joke was made at Summer Game Fest - and all to promote another game. In any case, it goes to show just how long we’ve been waiting for Silksong news, since it’s now fair game to make a jab about at an industry event.
