It’s been a bit since we’ve last hadsome significant newsregardingUbisoft’s planned remake ofPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time. However, that has now changed, as the officialPrince of Persiasocial media account has re-affirmed that the game is still in the works, along with a thank you to the fans who’ve stuck around.
It’s not a significant update by any means, but it’s good to know that the game is still in development as planned. In the interim, the account suggested PoP fans check outThe Rogue Prince of Persia, which will haveits full release this August.
Long-time Prince of Persia fans may recall that the Sands of Time remakewas originally supposed to release all the way back in early 2021, only for it to be delayed indefinitely. Eventually, that date shifted to 2022, withan update affirming that the game was still in development.
If the story didn’t have enough twists as is,it was later revealed that Ubisoft Montreal would take over the project. The teamended up remaking the remake, according to reports, and before long,Ubisoft Toronto joined in on the project.
In 2024,the game was finally re-revealed with a release planned for the next two years. However, a few weeks after that reveal, developers were laid off. By late October,Ubisoft once again re-affirmed that the game wasn’t canceled or delayed. Most recently,Ubisoft revealed that the project would be released by March 2026. It’s a story with a ton of twists and turns, but it appears it’ll come to an end relatively soon.
