After six years, Bithell Games' officially licensed John Wick game—the only one in existence—is being delisted from all platforms.
As reported byIGN, this one-of-a-kind strategy shooter will be fed into the digital shredder in just a couple of days on July 17. Big Fan Games, which is part of Devolver Digital, did not explain why the Baba Yaga is being sunset, but it’s likely due to the license expiring with rights holder Lionsgate Entertainment.
If you own the game, you’ll still be able to download and play it whenever you like. But for everyone who doesn’t have a copy, you only have two days to grab one if you want to giveJohn Wick Hexa try; otherwise, the only option left will be the second-hand physical market, where delisted games tend to spike in price.
It’s 80 percent off on the Humble Store right now at $3.99, but buyers report that keys are “exhausted”.
Mike Bithell Responds To John Wick Hex Delisting: “Pour One Out”
Shortly after the news broke, Mike Bithell posted a thread onBluesky, candidly sharing his thoughts on the game’s legacy, discussing its redemption in recent years, and mourning its loss.
“Pour one out (and pick up a copy asap if you want one). This one was a weird journey,” he started. “Initially polarised folks, but now it’s one of the consistent favourites people wanna chat with me about when I’m doing public stuff. My first disappeared game, a weird feeling. It’s a legacy that you can watch me getting my ar*e kicked on the John Wick 3 special features by the eventual director of Love Hurts. My pink face will echo through eternity.”
In two days, the game will be delisted, marking another major loss in the video game space afterEA just announced that Anthem would be shuttered next year, followingNeed for Speed: Rivals, all whileStop Killing Games gains momentum with over one million signaturesin an attempt to prevent developers from making their games inaccessible. While it doesn’t apply here, given that you can still play John Wick Hex if you own a copy, it’s hard not to think about the campaign amid so many games being lost and taken offline.
