If you were hoping thatThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildandTears of the Kingdom’sSwitch 2Editions would finally give us more hints about Link and Zelda’s relationship, you’re sadly going to be disappointed.

The Switch 2’s launch lineup is admittedly quite slim outside of Mario Kart Worldand a surprising number of third-party ports, but at leastTears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild have seen some long-awaited upgrades. The Switch 2 Editions of both gamesimprove their performances massively, but they also come with some new bells and whistles.

These new additions come in the form of the Nintendo app’s Zelda Notes, whichlet you share creations, items, and even get daily rewards like a potential instant item repair. The most interesting feature of Zelda Notes, though, is the titular Voice Memories themself, which come from Princess Zelda and can be found throughout the world.

We’ll Always Have The Shared Bed, Though

There are a total of 365 voice notes from Zelda between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and they mostly serve to share a bit of context on the world and Zelda’s reaction to it all. If you were hoping that more screen time fromZelda might result in a few more hints about her relationship with Link(the biggest question in the whole fandom), that’s sadly not the case.

Earlier this week,YouTuber knightpohtaytoe shared a video where they run through the results of the 365 voice notesand whether any of them definitively hint at Link and Zelda being a thing. Right from the get-go, knightpohtaytoe pointed out that most of the Breath of the Wild memories just “reinforced Zelda’s feelings of envy towards Link”.

One of the only Voice Memories that stands out as potentially shipping Zelda and Link is the one that can be found at Eventide Island, which sees Link covering his eyes in case the pair lose their clothes like Link did in BOTW. That doesn’t happen, of course, but it’s a nice moment that could just be interpreted as Link being a gentleman rather than the pair being in a relationship.

In fact, Link covering his eyes might be even more of a sign that the two aren’t together during the Voice Memory.

Outside of that, the only Voice Memories hinting at Link and Zelda’s relationship are fairly inconclusive, such as when Zelda tries to get a Noble Pursuit drink from Gerudo Town and is told she’s not ready yet. Another memory where Zelda plants a Silent Princess and Blue Nightshade could be taken as a nod, but it’s more likely a Triforce reference thanks to the Mighty Thistle she plants as well.

All of this is to say that Nintendo didn’t include any obvious references to Link and Zelda’s relationship in the new Voice Memories, leaving it up to player interpretation once again. Still, even if the voice notes don’t explicitly say it,the double bed and shared house that was in clear view in Tears of the Kingdomshould be more than enough proof.
