Since theSwitch 2’srelease, Nintendo has been working hard to update its back catalog of games to enhance their compatibility with the company’s latest console. Games likeSuper Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have all received patches, with some being called “so good, they’re basically remasters.”
Alongside its standard updates, Nintendo is releasing “Nintendo Switch 2 Editions” of select games, offering enhancements that go above and beyond. Two games that have already received this treatment areThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildandThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, allowing players to purchase Switch 2 versions of the game or upgrades for theiroriginal Switchversions.
While the new versions of the game are significant improvements over the originals, that’s not to say they’re without their faults, and Nintendo has quickly moved to address issues with both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom in new updates.
Both The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild And Tears Of The Kingdom Have Received Another Update For The Nintendo Switch 2
Prior to today, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom had each received two updates for the Nintendo Switch 2. On June 3, the games added “support for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition”, added Portuguese Brazilian language support, and fixed a range of bugs, alongside adding new Amiibo support for Tears of the Kingdom, and on June 12, Nintendo released some bug fixes. Now, on July 4, the two games received further updates.
Nintendo has confirmed that the update “Fixed an issue in which the player was unable to use the Daily Bonus effects ‘Health Recovery’ or ‘Hearty Meal’ if they had increased their hearts to the maximum number,” on both, adding, “Several other issues related to ZELDA NOTES have been addressed,” and “Several other issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.”
Although that’s the full extent of theBreath of the Wild patch notes, theTears of the Kingdom patch notesadd that Nintendo also “Fixed an issue in which the background music would not be played correctly in certain battles in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are considered two of the greatest games of all time, and with regular updates,it’s no surprise that they’ve dethroned 2025’s darling, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as the best-reviewed games of the year so far.
