The King Is Watchinghas a reasonably small list of Achievements, with 22 at launch. Don’t let that number fool you, though, as you’ll need to really master the game’s intricate and tricky management if you want to unlock them all.

Luckily, there’s more incentive than usual to step up to The King Is Watching’s deceptive challenges. Completing them earns in-game rewards in the form of Ascension Crystals, which you need for the most powerful unlocks. It’ll take practice and patience, but it’s far from impossible. Read on to find out everything you need to know.

Progress Achievements

These Achievements aren’t part of the game’s Book of Challenges, but you can still claim Ascension Crystals Prepearation Screen. Check near the Threat Level indicator at the bottom of the page for any difficulties you’ve already beaten; if there’s a Crystal to claim, it will be there.

King

Win in any biome on Threat Level 10.

Each Threat Level in a biome is unlocked by completing the one before it, so youhave to go in numerical order.Additionally, each biome’s Threat Level is tracked separately, so if you go all the way to 10 on Village without touching Graveyard, you’ll start back at the beginning when you finally switch over.

Once you’ve completed a Threat Level in a biome, you may play on any Threat Level up to your highest unbeaten Threat Level when starting a new run from the Preparation screen.

Challenge Achievements

The rest of the Achievements in the game are also tracked in theChallengessection, which needs to be unlocked with Town Denarii - the green coins you earn at the end of each run. When you’ve earned an Achievement, you canclaim its rewards from the associated page in the Book of Challenges.

This is also where you unlock King Abilities after defeating bosses as each playable character.

No Gaze Upgrades

Win a run without upgrading your Gaze.

This includes upgrades earned by event choices.Avoid playing as Leonid or Spelluswhen attempting this Challenge, as they have smaller starting Gazes than the other Kings.

No Army Limit Upgrades

Win a run without upgrading your army limit.

This includes upgrades earned by event choices. Be sure that your starting limit is fully enhanced with Town Denarii, andkeep your Barracks fully stockedto consistently reinforce your ranks. Alucard’s summoning and upgrade abilities can helpfocus on quality over quantity.

No Spells

Win a run without using any spells.

Just play on Threat Level 1 and you should be fine. Don’t play as Spellus for this Challenge, as his abilities are focused on casting.

No Castle Damage

Win a run without your castle taking any damage.

Play it safe when choosing Prophecies, and focus on spells likeSlow Zonethat keep enemies away from the walls. Ranged units behind a wall of durable Warriors make a good defensive line, especially with Leonid’s HP buffs.

Deforestation

Destroy all the trees on the battlefield in a single run.

Most offensive spells will destroy trees in their radius, but you’ll have toaim away from the actual combat zoneto hit most of them. Play as Spellus and repeatedly conjure new spells to everything down while your troops do all the fighting. Alternately, pick Wise Treefor your Council and cast Deforestation over the whole map.

Strength In Numbers

Have 40 units on the battlefield at once.

Stock up lots of summoning spells and maximize your troop limit. Baldwin’s Raise Militia can summon lots of Peasants over time, if you can keep them alive.

High Morale

Have 100 Morale.

Focus on Wood production so that you can build Arenas and Taverns, and group them together so they can all be within your Gaze at once. Alucard’sSecond Lifeability can produce Wine to supplement your city’s industry.

Collect Them All

Have at least one unit from every class on the battlefield at once.

Some units have more than one class; focus on recruiting them when attempting this challenge. The classes areGrunt, Warrior, Ranged, Rider, Flying, Champion, Arcane, andUndead.Alucard has a much easier time getting Undead units than other Kings.

Double Damage

Get any class’s damage buff up to +100% or more.

Keep choosingTroop Trainingrewards to spam attack buffs for the class that you use the most. You’ll need seven to hit the target!

Self Defense

Slay 5000 enemies over any number of runs.

Just keep playing the game; focus on large hordes when choosing Prophecies.

Ungrounded Executions

Execute 200 of your own units over any number of runs.

Build an Execution Ground next to a Peasant Hut and cycle recruitment and executions. If you’re able to upgrade the guillotine to produce extra Denarii, this is actually a great way to load up on bonuses when the Trader comes through.

Royal Cellar

Have 2000 Wine stocked up.

You need to actually have 2000 Wine all at one time. Have multiple Vineyards and Wineries operating, ideally upgraded. Alucard’s extra Wine production via Second Life can be useful here. Remember thatWine is automatically consumed during combat, so you’ll be racing your own troops' thirst!

There is also an event that you can sometimes get after the first boss fight of a run thattransmutes all of your existing resources into Wine. This is the easiest way to get to 2000, if you don’t mind starting over with everything else.

First Blood

Slay your first enemy.

You’ll get this one just for playing the game. The first wave on Village is always asingle Goblin Bandit, which a Peasant Hut can deal with easily.

Creative Limitations

Win at least once with Wise Tree and Betty asCouncilors.

You don’t have to have both on your Council at once; you’re able to win one game with Wise Tree, then another with Betty. Betty prevents you from producing your own Wheat, but gives you lots of extrra Denarii to spend when the Trader comes through. Wise Tree prevents you from producing your own Wood, but grants resources when you kill enemies and starts you with a bunch of Deforestation spells.

Village Mastery

Defeat every boss in the Village biome at least once.

You’ll need to play on at least Threat Level 2 to fight the Tier 3 bosses.

Graveyard Mastery

Defeat every boss in the Graveyard biome at least once.

As above, you’ll need to play on at least Threat Level 2. There are two bosses at each Tier, and each run is randomized, so you’ll need a minimum of two runs at TL 2 to see everything.

Playing on Threat Level 0disables Challenges and Achievements, so you need to play on at least Threat Level 1 to earn rewards, regardless of any other factors.
