Summary
DisneyPrincesses often get a lot of attention, but Disney Princes are important to their respective movies, too. Most serve as love interests that are crucial to the main plot, while some are the actual protagonists. Either way, they are often entertaining characters.
However, some are more engaging than others. After all, a few of the early Disney Princes didn’t actually talk that much. Yet, once the 1990s and 2000s rolled around, the world was treated to some more talkative ones that delivered plenty of excellent lines. Here are the best they have provided.
Not all of the characters on this list are technically Princes, but Disney considers them to be Disney Princes, so they still count.
8"Riff-Raff, Street Rat. I Don’t Buy That. If Only They’d Look Closer."
Aladdin (Aladdin)
Disney movies include a lot of great songs. As a result, some of the best quotes from these films are actually lyrics. One such example comes at the start of Aladdin’s Street Rat song near the start of his movie. Aladdin sings about being written off because he’s a street urchin, and people’s inability to look past that.
It works for Aladdin’s arc because he’s a street urchin who works his way up to being a prince. Even out of that context, though, it’s a good quote. There is more to people than what you may initially see, and you shouldn’t look down on anyone for their current social or financial status.
7"I Lost Her Once; I’m Not Gonna Lose Her Again!"
Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid)
Prince Eric and Ariel from The Little Mermaid don’t have the easiest relationship ever. In the early stages of their romance, Ariel can’t even talk, and Eric is tricked into falling in love with the evil Ursula. Then, when Ariel regains her voice, she becomes a mermaid again, and Ursula attempts to take her away.
So, they have more problems than the average couple. Yet, Eric’s love for her never wavers, and he even attempts to save his beloved when she’s taken, pointing out that he’s unwilling to lose her again. It’s a romantic decree from the prince who has no idea what he is getting into.
6"Life Is Short. When You’re Done, You’re Done. We’re On This Earth To Have Some Fun."
Prince Naveen (The Princess And The Frog)
Tiana and Prince Naveen from The Princess and the Frog don’t immediately hit it off, as they have very different personalities. Tiana is serious and hardworking, while Naveen is more laid back. A single lyric from his song, When We’re Human, gives an insight into his personality.
He believes life is short and you should allow yourself to have fun with the time you have. While you can’t spend every second having fun, as the average person has responsibilities, the quote is still a great reminder that you should allow yourself to enjoy your life sometimes.
5"I’d Rather Die Tomorrow Than Live A Hundred Years Without Knowing You."
John Smith (Pocahontas)
John Smith isn’t oftenpeople’s favorite Disney Prince, and the creative liberties Disney makes with his relationship with Pocahontas have been criticised. That said, the movie isn’t bad, and John Smith delivers a beautiful line to Pocahontas while he is captured.
She feels guilty and blames herself for getting Smith caught and dragging him into everything. He responds in a very romantic manner, saying he would rather die than not know her. The fact that he’s actually facing death makes the quote all the more meaningful.
4"…Because I Love Her."
Beast (Beauty Of The Beast)
Beauty and the Beast is among thebest movies of Disney’s Renaissance era. This is mainly down to the excellent love story between the two main characters. The relationship begins because the Beast needs someone to fall in love with him to transform into a human again. So, she is initially his prisoner.
Yet, when she discovers that her father is in danger, he lets her go. He knows this probably means losing her and never getting to be human again. When he’s questioned about this, he simply reveals that he did it “because he loves her.” It’s a moving moment of self-sacrifice, and a powerful line.
3"You Were My New Dream"
Flynn Rider (Tangled)
Flynn Rider provides many more laughs than the average Disney Prince. However, his most famous quote is a more serious one. Before meeting Rapunzel, Rider was a charming criminal who dreamed of being rich. That goal is what drove him. Yet, things change when he meets Rapunzel.
He slowly falls for the Princess, and in what he believes to be his final moments, he tells her that she is his new dream. It’s a very romantic line that also serves as a conclusion to Rider’s personal arc. In this moment, he shows that he is no longer the money-hungry man he used to be.
2"Um… You… You Fight Good."
Li Shang (Mulan)
Mulan is one ofthe best Disney Princesses, and she also has one of the greatest love interests in Li Shang. He is different from many of the other Disney Princes because he’s not a hopeless romantic, looking for love. He is a serious soldier. So, he isn’t as poetic, nor does he have the same way with words as many of the others.
This is evident late in the movie when he wants to express his feelings toward Mulan, and he awkwardly compliments her fighting ability. His sentence isn’t even grammatically correct, but it fits Li Shang perfectly, and there are real feelings behind his words.
1"You Aren’t Just Some Prize To Be Won. You Should Be Free To Make Your Own Choice."
In Aladdin, multiple Princes, including a disguised Aladdin, attempt to win Princess Jasmine’s hand in marriage. At one point, she gets annoyed with this and claims she’s not a “prize to be won.” A little later, Aladdin remembers those same words and admits that she’s right about that.
So, this quote isn’t his most original. However, it’s the meaning behind it that is powerful. Jasmine isn’t used to people caring about her opinion or seeing her side in this whole thing. The line proves that he isn’t like her other potential suitors.
