Summary
The Elder Scrolls 4: Obliviongets a lot of praise for many reasons, but one of its biggest strengths is its guilds, which ended up being slightly disappointing in Skyrim. Now that people have been revisiting the game thanks toOblivion Remastered, a lot of people are now discovering just how great the game’s guild quests are, minus the weird overlap.
Some are more loved than others though. The Mages Guild was recently found to be the most popular, the Dark Brotherhood is considered legendary for that one quest, and the Thieves Guild is pretty well-liked, but the guild that often gets the wrong end of the stick is the Fighters Guild. In fact, the very same achievement statistics that revealed everyone loves the Mages Guild also revealed thateveryone seems to love avoiding the Fighters Guild.
There are some understandable reasons for that, as it easily features more grunt work than the other guilds to progress the story, but it also means a lot of people underestimate its story. One such fan that found themselves in that position isa Reddit user called TaurusOushii, who recently admitted they were left “paused for nearly ten minutes in shock” after one of the guild’s quests.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Fans Are Finally Appreciating The Fighter’s Guild
To avoid spoiling the quest for those not in the know, I’ll just say it involves going on a quest for the Blackwood Company, and that there are major spoilers in TaurusOushii’s post. It’s essentially just a big explanation of the quest and why it left them shocked, but what’s more important is all the love the Fighters Guild gets in the replies.
For example, a user called Excellent_Panda5310 says they “love” the Fighters Guild story, and they’re “not sure why so many people dislike it”. Another user called Apprehensive_Toe4160 goes one step further by calling it “one of better game storylines” in the Elder Scrolls as a series, while many others describe enjoying the feeling of having to work your way up with contracts.
Kryonic_rus enjoys the more realistic aspect of the Fighters Guild, as they think it’s “the most believable” out of all the guilds. You don’t just walk through the doors, fix all the problems, and become head of the entire place in the Fighters Guild, and Kryonic_rus enjoys how it makes you feel “like a proper member of a mercenary organization”. A person after my own heart.
