Those who aren’t well-versed in grabbing Flour Sand might find that their life expectancy takes a sharp drop, while the sandworms find they are suddenly very well-fed.
But, once you’ve got a grasp on how to find Flour Sand, how to figure out the difference between Flour Sand you should grab and Flour Sand better left untouched, and the best way to harvest Flour Sand, you can get in and out before a situation becomes unsalvageable.
Where To Find Flour Sand
Flour Sand is located right in the one type of area that you mostly want to avoid:in the middle of the sand dunes. This makes obtaining it a bit of a complicated effort; stick around too long or grab it in the wrong way, and the sandworms are going to come knocking.
To find Flour Sand, look for pockets of lighter sand in the desert. There will be bits of it floating off into the air just above it, like a small, light sand cloud.
Two Kinds Of Flour Sand
All Flour Sand does the same thing, but it’s best to think of it in two different varieties:
You can feel free to grab any Flour Sand that you see, butgrabbing the second variety of Flour Sand is going to land you in dangerous situationsfar more often.
If yougrab Flour Sand near the edge of a rocky outcrop, escaping from an encroaching sandworm is viable. If you’re stuck in the middle, you’re going to have a difficult time escaping, even on a sandbike.
Best Way To Get Flour Sand
You can simply walk up and grab Flour Sand with your hand, butthe rhythmic motion of your hand scooping the sand is going to attract worms, and you’re also going to grab it at a much slower rate.
A far better bet is tocome prepared with the right equipment.

With that Static Compactor,look at the Flour Sand, and press fire. It’s going to compact the sand into a little pile, with the option toTake Flour Sand as opposed to Harvest Flour Sand. This is going to get you far more Flour Sand in a shorter amount of time, and also draw fewer sandworms.
Bring A Sandbike
No matter how you grab Flour Sand,the risk is that of sandworms rushing you. Getting away on foot is nearly impossible, butgetting away on a sandbikeis a little bit easier. It doesn’t mean you can outrun them for long, but it dramatically increases the odds of getting to the rocky outcrop where the sandworm cannot follow.
It might be tempting to rush out onto the sand loud and fast to grab Flour Sand and get out. But, that will limit the amount of time that you can actually spend grabbing it. Take your time, make as few vibrations as possible, and you’re going to be more rewarded for your effort.
