This is one of two major seasonal speedrunning events put on by Games Done Quick, an organization that put on its first speedrunning event in 2010, called Classic Games Done Quick. CGDQ was originally slated to be a part of MAGFest, but was moved to a private home to deal with internet issues. The rest is history.
