Over a year afterHonkai: Star Rail’sinitial announcement of collaboration with Fate’s Ultimate Blade Works season, it has finally arrived in the game during the Version 3.4 update. Apart from an exclusive event for the collab involving Saber, Archer, and Lancer, you can also get the first two characters as playable units in the game.
While Archer is free, Saber is a five-star Wind Destruction unit that you’re able to only acquire from her featured banner. She’s one of the best AoE DPS units in the game, and with the right build and team members, she can clear your endgame content in the blink of an eye.
Best Saber Light Cones
After mustering up enough passes and getting Saber from her banner in Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll first have to decorate her with a synergistic light cone. These cones are usually acquired from the gacha as well, but you can get a few of them for free from different modes and also if you buy the premium tier of the battle pass.
To get the most value on Saber, you’d want toequip one of the light cones with a Destruction path on her, since you can’t use the cone’s passive otherwise. Herbest light cone is undoubtedly A Thankless Coronation, which is her signature that can be acquired from the Fate light cone banner.
If you’re new to the game, it’susually recommended not to pull on light cone bannerssince it’s more important to have more characters.
Thankfully, you have quite a few other choices including some F2P-friendly ones for Saber:
Synergy With Saber
A Thankless Coronation
This is Saber’s signature light cone, and it gives her awhopping 36 percent Crit DMG boost just by being equipped. However, the main boosts you get from this for Saber only happen after you use your Ultimate.
Once you do that, you can instantly regenerateten percent of your Energy back while increasing her ATK by 80 percent.
On the Fall of an Aeon
This light cone can be acquired for free bytaking part in the Simulated Universe of Honkai: Star Rail. Once you get it to maximum Superimposition, it can give Saber up to 64 percent ATK simply by attacking the enemies.
Once you break any enemy’s Weakness, italso gives her a 24 percent DMG boost.
A Trail of Bygone Blood
If you’re buying the premium tier of the battle pass, this can also be a decent light cone for Saber as it gives her an additional12 percent Crit Rate along with extra damage for her Skill and Ultimate.
The Moles Welcome You
At the maximum superimposition, this can be a decent four-star choice for Saber asit gives her 24 percent ATK whenever she attacksan enemy with any attack.
Best Saber Relics And Planar Ornaments
Once you reach a high enough level on your Honkai: Star Rail account, you can start equipping Relics and Planar Ornaments on your character. At the start, the set bonuses from these won’t matter muchand you can simply equip the pieces that have the recommended stats mentioned below.
However, as you get to the mid-game, you’ll have to start thinking about getting theright four-piece and two-piece on your gear to get the respective bonuses. For Saber, the best relic and planar ornament sets are Wavestrider Captain and Inert Salsotto, respectively. However, you have some other options as well:
1
Wavestrider Captain
While playing Saber in Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll likely use two Harmony support units with her, making this set the best in slot.It gives her an extra 16 percent Crit DMG as soon as you get two of its pieceson Saber.
Furthermore, you get stacks of Help when you’re the target of an ally’s ability. With two stacks, using your Ultimate can increase your ATK by 48 percent.
2
Eagle of Twilight Line
This is the second-best relic set for Saber, and also a great early-game choice as it cangive her a nice ten percent Wind DMG bonusas long as you have two of its pieces on her.
With four pieces, it lets you advance her action by 25 percent after using her Ultimate. Saber can already get an extra turn sometimes, andthis action advance added to that helps her attack a lot more.
3
Scholar Lost in Erudition
Finally, while not the greatest choice, you can still use this set on Saber to get some decent benefits. It gives her eight percent Crit Rate and 20 percent Ultimate/Skill DMGas long as you have four pieces.
Moreover, itincreases her Skill DMG by 25 percentfor one turn after using her Ultimate.
Inert Salsotto
This ornament set serves as the best in slot for Saber and it’s also available early in the game. Itgives you eight percent Crit Rate and some Ultimate DMGas long as you have 50 percent Crit Rate on her.
Sigonia, the Unclaimed Desolation
Alternatively, you’re able to also use this set, especially if you’re using Saber in the Pure Fiction game mode. It gives her four percent Crit Rate for free as soon as it’s equipped.
Moreover, you canget up to 40 percent Crit DMG from this setonce you defeat ten enemies on the field.
Sub-Stats
Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD
The Feet main stat for Saberentirely depends on your team compositionsince she can already get an instant turn from her kit.
If you’re using one or two team members that can further advance her turn and the Eagle of Twilight Line set,you may easily replace her Feet with ATK main stat.
Saber can also get up to 84 percent Crit DMG from her bonus ability, and one of her staple supports additionally buffs her Crit DMG. Thisallows you to focus on Crit Rate for her build and get it at least over 70 percent.
Saber F2P Team
Saber, Remembrance Trailblazer, Tingyun, Lynx
Thankfully, unlike most DPS characters in Honkai: Star Rail, Saber is quite flexible when it comes to her team. She’s largely a self-sufficient character since shegets a bunch of Crit Rate and DMG from her kit along with an action advance. However, any character who can further advance her action will always fit well.
Hence,Sunday becomes the best in slot supportunit for Saber since he can not only give her a bunch of stats and advance her movement, but also single-handedly get both the stacks for the Wavestrider Captain relic set. One of Sunday’s buffs is also a passive Crit DMG boost, which fits perfectly with Saber.
Sunday is generally one of the top-tier supports in Honkai: Star Rail, so you canuse him in a bunch of teamseven outside of Saber.
Moving forward to the third slot in the team, you have quite a few options here. Of course, you’ll get the best value from Tribbie or Robinsince both of these are great general support units. However, if you don’t have them available, you can also useTingyun to get extra Energy Regenerationon Saber.
Finally, your best sustainer for the team willundoubtedly be Huohuo since she can also regenerate Saber’s Energywith her Ultimate. Outside of that, Huohuo can also increase her ATK and keep the team alive quite easily. With this team, you’re bound to beat any endgame content as long as the enemy is weak to Wind.
Since Huohuo shares the attribute with Saber, you can also useornaments like Penacony, Land of Dreams on her.
On the other hand, if you’re thinking of making an F2P team for Saber,Remembrance Trailblazer and Lynx will replace Sunday and Huohuo. The former works as a great companion for Saber’s turn advancement while the latter can increase her chances of getting attacked, which will also increase her overall Energy Recharge.
Apocalyptic Shadow Rating
S+ Tier
As a special character coming to the universe of Honkai: Star Rail from the Fate series, Saber was bound to be a great unit to have. It’salso important to mention that while her banner lasts for a long time, you likely won’t be able to get her once it ends. If you do get her, Saber is easily one of the top DPS contenders on your team.
Apart from dealing a ton of damage with her Ultimate, she can also deal a significant amount with the Skill and the buffed Basic Attack. However, theheavy damage from her Ultimate makes her slightly low-tier on Pure Fictionsince you need consistent damage there, and your Ultimate won’t be ready all the time.
You can still beat Pure Fiction with Saberquite easily and get to the halfway mark on her half, especially when the buffs are catered to her.
When you’re fighting in Memory of Chaos or Apocalyptic Shadows with Saber on the other hand, you may easily defeat every enemy on Saber’s halfwithin just a few turns. To do that, however, it’s also important to understand how Saber works.
Saber’s Kit, Explained
Saber is the only character in Honkai: Star Rail thatshows two different Energy bars for her Ultimate. While this can be a little confusing at first, it’s quite simple to understand in practice:
Saber Trace Priority
Being a DPS character who deals high damage from her Ultimate, Skill, and basic attack, all of Saber’s abilities are important for upgrades. Of course, you’re able to prioritize her Ultimate for the most damage. After that, you can upgrade her Talent, Skill, and basic attack in that order.
