Summary
InElden Ring Nightreign, you spend each night making yourself stronger, working your way up to the Nightlord of the current expedition. Being a roguelite however, all of this progress is lost between runs, with only the mark of your victory remaining. Except, of course, we just called this a roguelite, not a roguelike.
While there is very few, you do retain a small amount between runs, and that are the Relics you acquired. They are for the most part random, though there are also a few Relics you can get that are guaranteed, and sometimes even just a single trait or two on a Relic can be enough to justify a spot in your Relic Rites. These are the best types to look out for to master the night.
8Remembrance Relics
Relive The Past To Get Ahead
Unique to every Nightlord are Remembrances, memories of their past after they came to the Roundtable Hold, eroded by the Night. These are a great insight into the character in question, but also comes with some powerful Relics that offer unique effects to the Nightfarer that unlocked them.
For example, Wylder gains the ability to perform a unique follow-up attack with his Claw Shot, while Duchess can get a free use of Restage by completing a dagger combo. They can dramatically alter how you play, so always have one of these equipped.
7Nightlord Relics
Best One Boss To Beat Another
While the core of the game is defeating Nightlords, there are eight of them in total, and it would really help to become stronger after beating one. And while there is little that you do keep, each Nightlord does offer you a unique Relic, based on their own style of combat and how you can apply it to your own builds.
For example, the Night Aspect gives you a Relic that boosts attack power and adds a random element to your weapon. Libra’s allows you to cast Madness on yourself, and restore FP after it happens. They are powerful, and are full of pre-set skills to let you build yourself around them.
6Character-Specific Relics
Take Their Unique Traits Even Further
Every character does get a unique Relic from their Remembrances, but this isn’t the only place where they get effects unique to them. Even random Relics can have character-specific skills to them that can really enhance how you play as them.
One for Revenant allows her to sacrifice her own HP to restore it to her allies, while Recluse can get one that lets her trigger Blood Loss on herself in exchange for increased damage. While you may’t always depend on the other traits on these Relics, they can lead to some hilariously powerful builds.
5Added Affinity Relics
Just The Effect You Need
All of the Nightlords have a specific weakness, whether it is a status ailment or an elemental affinity. The typical goal is topick out Landmarks across the mapthat fit these weaknesses and acquire them. However, that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the weapon you need that fits your character.
Therefore, you should use Relics that add an Affinity or Ailment instead. These can also lead to some powerful combos. You want Blood Loss on a bow? You can have it. Want to add Poison or Frostbite to a weapon that already has an Ailment or Affinity? You can do that too. Anything goes!
4Shared Item Effect Relics
Share The Buffs
While it can be easy to ignore them in the speed at which you go through areas in Nightreign, you really should pick up the items you come across. Exalted Flesh and Boiled Prawns will really enhance your survivability against a Nightlord. Now wouldn’t it be even better if your allies could partake in those buffs too?
Well you’re in luck, because plenty of Relics offer you that ability. This applies to any useable item, too. Yes, those Boluses will be shared with your allies just as much as your Boiler Prawns and Exalted Flesh. And so will your Flasks. So if you see the whole team low on health, be the support they need.
Boluses also offer permanent resistance boosts for a run, not just temporarily.
3Ash of War Relics
For A Different Kind Of Combat
With the random nature of the weapons you get in Nightreign, you can never guarantee the Ash of War that will be on any given weapon. Some, such as Legendary and other unique armaments, will have pre-set Ashes of War, many others won’t, and you may not even find much use for them.
That is where your Relics come to the rescue once again. With some, you can change the Ash of War on your default weapon to the whatever is in the Relic. Just about all of these are random, but they can open up some really unique builds if paried with Added Affinities, too.
2Character Skill
Make Those Skills Even Stronger
Character Skills are the most commonly used aspect of any Nightfarer, the part of them that you will base your whole build and playstyle around. So really, there is never a downside to doubling down and making those character skills even stronger.
Plenty of Relics offer these effects in different ways. The most common will be those that decrease the cooldown, but some will also increase the length of the skill. How does that work? Well it depends on the character. With Guardian, this will cause their whirlwind to remain for a few more seconds after casting, or make Duchess' Restage pull from a slightly longer period of time.
1Ultimate Art Relics
What Happens When You Like The Ultimate Even Better?
Ultimate Arts are exactly what they say on the tin. They arethe strongest moves available to a Nightfarer, and should be used sparingly to really capitalise on the power and utility they offer. So what if you could make them even better?
In reality, there is little to alter the effects of Ultimate Arts from random Relics because they are so unique, but being able to make them charge even faster is an essential. So if you don’t have a current build you’re striving for, then throwing an Ultimate Art Gauge+ Relic on is always a safe bet.
