Peak, the trendy multiplayer mountain climbing game, is a fantastic challenge solo. But the core of what makes the game fun is when playing with friends. Whether you’re helping each other climb, just chatting, or being silly little pranksters, there’s fun to be had.

Especially that last one. Nothing says camaraderie like intentionally hindering each other because it’d be funny. Peak offers a good variety of ways to do that, too. If you’re looking to mix up your goblin-core co-op contribution, then give these ideas a try.

1The Classic Banana Peel Prank

In the Tropics, variousberrynana fruitsare scattered around on trees and vines. Eating them (poisonous or not) will leave a banana peel. If you drop it on the ground and someone walks over it, they’ll slip.

Intentionally hold on to a peel and place it where your teammates won’t see, like right behind them. Better yet, climb up a cliff face first and place the peel right on the edge.

2Feed Them Poisonous Foods

When holding food items, you’re able to feed them to someone else by facing them and pressing the prompt. This applies to any consumable, from bandages topoisonous mushrooms. That’s how you heal an unconscious scout, after all.

And therein lies the magic. Grab a mushroom and just stuff it in their face. They get harmlessly poisoned, and you’re able to contest their objection by saying you were keeping them fed.

Even better: feed them a poisonous berrynana, because the banana peel will end up in their hands, not yours.

3Lie To New Scouts

The easiest prank to pull, but the hardest to pull twice. If you’re playing with a friend who isn’t familiar with the game, you can tell them things like “the thorn vines don’t hurt” or “that mushroom is safe to eat.”

They’ll believe you… once. After that, they’re not going to trust a word you say. It’ll take some heavy persuasion to get them to cooperate with you. And that’s when you strike again.

4Put Heavy Things In Their Backpack When They Aren’t Looking

Scouts have to remove their backpacks to access the items inside. Both other scouts can reach in there at their whim, even while being worn. While the UI says how many items there are, it provides no warning or details.

Take heavy items, like fruit, coconuts, and so on, and drop them into the vacant spots of their backpack. The extra burden will shrink their stamina bar, and they’ll be wondering why for longer than they care to admit. Even after you’re caught, you can keep doing it.

5Throw Things At Exploding Foliage In Tropics

Another good Tropics prank, this one involves those lumpy piles of exploding material. When touched, the purple ones burst into a cloud of poison smoke, while the yellow ones explode, launching anyone nearby away.

They can be triggered from a distance by throwing an item into them. Which makes them a prime way to spark some drama without endangering yourself. Just make sure you have something you don’t mind throwing away.

6Intentionally Make Rope Too Short

Rope is a fantastic multiplayer tool. One person with extra stamina can make a climb that the others can’t, then they can lower down a rope, so the others have an easier time.

Unless, of course, they don’t. Intentionally leaving the rope too short for them to reach can be a funny way to see them scramble to try anyway and falling short. Claim that you ran out of rope, only to use more later and see how they react.

7Shoot Them With A Blowdart While Climbing

A rare item, the blowdart exists almost exclusively to toy with your friends. When fired, the dart will inflict overwhelming sleepiness on the target.

Since this does nothing to anything else in the game, short of maybe triggering an exploding lump pile, then it SHOULD be used to mess with your friends. Wait until they’re halfway up a long climb, then shoot them and watch them fall.

8Jumpscare Them As A Ghost

When you die, the other players can see you. Your camera becomes a ghost that hovers around whoever you spectate. They can also hear you.

You can be hard to notice at first, so before they know you died, quickly zoom in to their face and say “boo!” Simple, startling, harmless. The only downside is that it’s purely reaction-based, and if they aren’t startled, it can be awkward.

Don’t be too rude as a ghost, or they might intentionally avoidreviving you.

9Trigger The Scoutmaster

The Scoutmaster is easily the most terrifying thing in the game. The only actively hostile encounter, some players can go countless games without encountering him. That’s because there are only two ways to spawn him. One is with an extremely rare item drop. The other is by breaking rule zero: don’t leave anyone behind.

Here’s what you do: Intentionally fall back, maybe even telling them to keep going, and you’ll catch up. If they go far enough ahead without you, the Scoutmaster will spawn to punish them. So by intentionally backtracking, you can sic him on your teammates.

10Throw Out All Of The Flares At The Peak

The only act that should be considered a criminal offense, this requires making it to the peak before everyone else. At the peak is a box of flares you’re supposed to use to summon rescue.

As soon as you get there, grab all of the flares and throw them down the cliff, effectively sabotaging the entire run right at the finish line. You effectively escaped, so there’s no REAL harm in failing it right at the end. But the drama will be so strong from this heinous act.
