If you didn’t already know, Nirnroot is probably the most infamous ingredient inOblivion Remastered,given its prominence in the quest Seeking Your Roots. Completing the quest is imperative if you want Sinderion to use the Nirnroot you find to make one ofthe best potions in the game.
Whether you’re focused on completing Seeking Your Roots or you want to combine Nirnroot with Unrefined Greenmote from the Shivering Isles to make your creation, you’ll need several samples to satisfy your needs. Unfortunately, the only way to acquire Nirnroot is by harvesting it, as it cannot be duplicated in the Arch Mage’s chest.
What Is Nirnroot?
Nirnroot is a rare Alchemical ingredient that you must collect for Sinderion during the Seeking Your Roots quest, which will earn you a unique potion called theElixir of Exploration.
This uniqueElixir of Exploration potion gives the following effects,with their duration and magnitude increasing with each improved version.
This potion is a massive help during dungeon exploration, butNirnroot also boasts four other Alchemy effectsif you want tomake a custom poison:
Whether you want Sinderion to help you make a potion packed with boons or you’d rather use Nirnroot as a poison, you’ll need to collect as many samples as possible, since this ingredient cannot be cloned when you become Arch Mage.
Where Are The Best Places To Find Nirnroot?
Nirnroot can be found inplanters within homesand certain guild halls, like the Mages Guild, oroutside around bodies of water.
Every sample ofNirnroot makes a humming noise when you get close,so keep an ear out for this sound while you’re searching for this unusual ingredient.
In total, there are 309 samples of Nirnroot in Oblivion Remastered, with 43 plants potted inside and 263 wild samples near water.

Outside Nirnroot Locations
These outdoor Nirnroot are slightly bigger and more obvious than their indoor varieties, and are almost exclusively located directly adjacent to bodies of water.
Whenever you see a lake, pond, or other bodies of water, check their banks for humming Nirnroot samples.
Generally, any location near water is good, butsearching around the Imperial City’s outer ring of water will yield tons of Nirnroot.Start here and make a circle around the area, and you’ll be swimming in Nirnroot.
