After playingUmamusume: Pretty Derbyfor a few hours, you’ll likely already finish the story and enter the main grind where you consistently have to train your characters to compete against other players. You have to train different characters for each specialty if you want to have a chance against other trainers.
Mihono Bourbon is one of the characters you may train, and she largely specializes as a Front Runner over the Medium and Long distance. Here are the best stats and support cards you can get to make her a strong contender in PvP.
Late (G)
End (G)
Mihono Bourbon is the first featured character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, andyou can get her at any time when you pull on the Derby banner. However, she’s arguably one of the hardest characters to build due to her high requirements on various stats. As you can see from above, Mihono mainly excels as a Front Runner in the Medium distance.
However, you can also use her in aMile or Long distance as long as you can get them to an A ratingwith some legacy cards. Getting this rating can be important even if you’re planning to use her as a Medium runner since she has a bunch of Mile and Long races during her career, and you’ll have quite a hard time beating these if you don’t have them at an A rating.
Getting A rating on Long is a priority for Mihono Bourbon since she needs toplace in the top three in two Long races and win one during her career.
When it comes to Style and Track, Mihono is set in her wayssince she can only work as a Front Runner on a Turf. Her rating on any other style or track are too low to even be worth trying. Of course, as a Front Runner, she needs quite a bit of Stamina to stay ahead of all other racers, which can pose a problem during the run.
Here’s a general idea onwhat you should prioritize during each yearof Mihono Bourbon’s career:
How To Train
Junior
If you want to beat Mihono Bourbon’s career, you’ll have to get a strong start. During the junior year, it’s important to focus on herSpeed and Power as much as possible, with a bit of Staminahere and there. However, you should also focus on your support cards.
It’s necessary to get her support cards on the gold bar as soon as possible. These get upgraded whenever youtrigger a training that has them on the top-right. Once they reach the gold bar, you can trigger rainbow training with them.
Classic
From the second year, your focus will mainly shift to beating your next race. As mentioned above,Mihono has a good mix of three race types in her career, and you’ll have to think ahead for each one.
For example, if you have a Long race coming up, you can work on her Stamina and attempt to get some blue skills to get the required position.Don’t worry about not getting the first position with herin the early races since it’s quite difficult.
Senior
For the final year, your main focus will be toget your stats at the recommended position(mentioned below) and take part in as many G1 races as possible. These races not only give her a bunch of Skill Points, but also make her Legacy card stronger.
Mihono Bourbon Legacy Recommendations
Before you start a run, you’ll need to use two Legacies on Mihono Bourbon. This derby can be very dependent on her Legacies, which makes her even more difficult to build during the early game. It’s recommended to get a few B or A rating Legacies that have good affinity with her before you attempt a proper run with Mihono.
Ideally, you’ll need as muchSpeed, Power, and Stamina as possible on your Legacies, with afocus on the first two stats. Having Front Runner and your target Distance as the Inspiration on any of your Legacy cards is also great.

Mihono Bourbon has theGut as her highest base stat with Speed and Power following close behind. Wit comes next and Stamina is the lowest base stat she has. However, she has 20 andten percent growth rateon Stamina and Power respectively, whichincreases the overall points you getin them while training.
Speed is undoubtedly the most important stat in Umamusume: Pretty Derby regardless of your preferred Distance or Style. You’d ideally aim for over 1,000 Speed on every character, but since Mihono’s stat requirement is so high for Power and Stamina, you’re able to lower it to an average of 700 or more.
Once you get deeper into the game and get better Legacy and Support cards, you can achieve 1,100 Speed with the recommended pointsin other stats.
On the other hand, Gut is the least preferred stat for her since it mainly helps in overtaking enemies and works as a reserve Stamina. However, since she’s always in the front, it’s better to put points in the Stamina itself so you don’t run out. Finally, Power is an important stat for her since it affects her acceleration during the race, which massively helps her get ahead at the start.
Wit is somewhat of a mediocre stat for Mihono sinceshe does need some of it for timely skill activation, but doesn’t need a lot.
