On the roads ofMario Kart World, you will need more than just skill and luck in driving to come out on top. With one of the biggest and wackiest rosters in Mario Kart history, there’s a wide range of characters to have a blast playing as.
Which character and kart you choose is key to every part of a race. From speeding ahead of the competition to recovering from getting hit, the stats of your character and kart can make all the difference. With four main stats and hidden ones hiding behind the code, each is important to consider.
We have included a range of combos for almost every weight class to provide a variety of options. Just keep in mind that each mode is different, so while some combinations may perform well in one mode, they may struggle in another.
Weak Points: Outclassed by other drivers stat-wise
Peach’s Best Stats: Acceleration, Handling, average Weight, average Speed
Reel Racer’s Best Stats: High Speed, average Weight
The princess of the Mushroom Kingdom is one of the most stylish drivers with hercountless pretty outfits, and she is one of the more skilled too. Peach is a Medium-Lightweight character who has rounded stats and in the Reel Racer she gets a boost to her Speed stat, helping you keep up on the long straight drives between tracks.
Going fromMario Kart 8 Deluxeto World is a shock, as before it was all about your Acceleration and Mini-Turbo stats, but in World you will want to focus on every stat. All-rounded characters like Peach do this super well and this combo is great for newcomers and for online races.
Baby Daisy’s Best Stats: Acceleration, Handling
You may at first overlook the lighter characters, since the Heavyweights tend to be better in the Mario Kart series, but in World, everyone has their pros and cons. With the Featherweight class, characters like Baby Daisy shine. The perks of being so light are a high Acceleration stat and an easy-to-control vehicle, and Baby Daisy is one of the best in the class.
Combining these stats with the Speed and Weight stats of the Reel Racer gives you a fantastically rounded driver and kart combo that can keep a lead with ease. The only issue is how light the combo is, as while the Reel Racer gives some extra weight, you are still prone to getting bumped all over the track.
Weight Class: Heavyweight (Bowser has a higher Weight stat)
Weak Points: Low Acceleration and bad Handling
Bowser’s Best Stats: Speed, Weight
Stellar Sled’s Best Stats: Speed, Weight
The king of the Koopas always smashes his way onto the racetrack and, in World, Bowser is not only the heaviest character but also one of the fastest with a wild Speed stat. Unfortunately, the heavy Weight stat and large hit box make Bowser quite a pain to use in any race, but in Time Trials he can smash any record into tiny bits with enough skill.
The Stellar Sled is a kart that specializes in high speed and when combined with the Speed stat of Bowser, you will be able to reach top speeds higher than any other racer. This is especially good in theKnockout Tourbecause of the long straightaways between each main track, which have large sections without any drifting, but plenty of road for you to reach your speed limit.
Pianta’s Best Stats: Speed, Weight, average Acceleration, average Handling
This jolly island-loving racer is one of the new additions that any GameCube fan is head over heels for. After years of retirement in the Mario series, they must have been practicing their karting skills, as Pianta is a great Heavyweight character to destroy the competition using their all-around stats.
Pianta is one of the characters who’s secretly better at any boat sections. When combined with the high Speed stat of the Reel Racer, you will be able to rocket past opponents in the water. Even on dry racetracks, Pianta can speed into first place with ease.
All characters have one secret special stat they are better at within the game’s code, and unfortunately, that makes certain characters objectively better, even if they share the same main stats.
Combo Weak Points: Tricky to control, takes tight turns
Pauline’s Best Stats: Balanced
Mach Rocket’s Best Stats: Acceleration, Handling
Unfortunately for Bike enthusiasts, they are severely outclassed in Mario Kart World by the Karts for many reasons, but with the right combo, you may still achieve great results. Pauline is an all-rounder who has a nice average that works well to help Bikes compete with even the best Karts.
The Mach Rocket is the best Bike in the game, and on certain tracks, it can outperform the best Karts with ease with its tight turning. The Acceleration stat is near perfect with this combo and since Pauline has a great average on every stat, you don’t need to worry about being slow thanks to her Speed stat.
Toadette’s Best Stats: Acceleration, Handling
In the chaotic 24-player races of Mario Kart World, getting hit is an inevitability in every race. With items flying all over, you will get barraged with Shells and Bananas constantly. One of the most important stats to recover from getting hit is Acceleration, and Toadette is the queen of this stat.
What Toadette lacks to make her an excellent, well-rounded driver is Speed and Weight, so putting her in the Reel Racer answers these problems. This results in a combo that is reliable on any track that doesn’t necessarily excel at anything but performs well to get you an edge in any situation.
Bowser + Baby Blooper Stats
Combo Weak Points: Slow to reach max Speed, hard to control
Baby Blooper’s Best Stats: Acceleration, Handling
Bowser is the heaviest driver in the game, being able to smash through the competition with ease alongside his high Speed stat. However, there is one small downside to Bowser: he is much trickier to control than any other driver due to his poor Handling, but that’s where the best kart in the game comes in to help.
The Baby Blooper is incredible due to its high Acceleration and Handling, making wild shortcuts a lot easier to perform. Mario Kart World is very mechanically different from other titles in the series. Wall riding and rail grinding give you sharper lines and even more tricks around courses, which high Acceleration and Handling stats benefit from.
Combo Weak Points: Bad Handling and Acceleration
Wario’s Best Stats: Speed, Weight
Chargin' Truck’s Best Stats: Speed, Weight
This high-skill combo puts Speed at the forefront, and it is perfect for any long stretches of straight road. Wario has been the champion of many Mario Kart entries, and in World, he is once again a king with a wonderful set of outfits and strong Speed stats that synergize with World’s track design.
With the Chargin' Truck, Wario’s best stats get improved to make him a speed demon that can reach ridiculous top speeds. The only caveat is, if you make any mistakes, it will take a while to reach top Speed again, which may be tricky to avoid, but with skill and luck, it is worth the risk.
Combo Weak Points: Slow on straightaways, very lightweight
One of the best stats for any technical tracks is the Acceleration stat, due to how many tricks you can get off the rails and walls. Lightweight characters are the rulers of this stat, and Toadette holds many Time Trial records thanks to her strong stats that synergize well with the turbo-powered Baby Blooper.
The duo of Toadette and Baby Blooper gives you one of the highest possible Acceleration stats in the game, and with the high Handling stat, you’re able to drift with ease around even the hardest of tracks. If you can chain tricks throughout the race, this combo will breeze through despite its slow Speed stat.
Among all the weight classes, the Heavyweight class is one of the most consistent, having plenty of records in Time Trials. Thanks to the intermission tracks, characters such as Wario can take advantage of their higher Speed stats on the long stretches of straight track to leave everyone in the dust.
Combine the best character with the best kart, which makes up for Wario’s shortcomings, and you get a combination that can dominate on everytrack. From the more technical tracks to the long flat stretches of the intermission ones, this combo is fast, powerful, and fun in every mode.
