InStalker 2, there are a ton of weapons and even more weapon types for you to try, from eight different assault rifles to multiple assortments of shotguns and pistols. Of course, the game also has different ammo types, and you’ll want to use your scarce ammunition on the best weapons that can use them.
Each ammo type has multiple guns to choose from, but only a few are the best at using them. There are a lot of things to take into account, from damage to rate of fire and even the magazine capacity, so here are the best ones.
The Best 9x18mm Weapon: APSB
We’ll be starting with the most underwhelming ammo type in the game.The 9x18mm in real life isn’t that great, and in the game, it’s much of the same, but at leastyou can get a lot of them for cheap. There areonly three weaponsthat can use this ammo type, and only one of them is worth using.
The APSB is a pocket submachine gunmasquerading as a pistol. While it has lower damage than a PTM, itmakes up for it with its full-auto firing modeonce you upgrade it. Not only that, butput in an extended magazine mod and use 9x18mm AP, and you’ve got yourself a great SMG that fits in your pistol slot.
The Best 9x19mm Weapon: Zubr-19
While there are a lot of good weapons that can use the 9x19mm ammunition, some of them either aren’t amazing or have a severe drawback. For example, the Integral-A has a high rate of fire, but it has one of the lowest damage stats in the game. Not only that, but an unmodified one only has 20 rounds in its magazine.
If you need to use 9x19mm, then the Zubr-19 is the best weaponthere is. This SMG boasts a50-round magazine and a great rate of fire, along with a respectable damage stat. If you canget the unique variant called ‘Rat Killer,‘then that’s even better, with slightly higher damage, range, and accuracy.
The Best .45 ACP Weapon: UDP Compact
The .45 ACP has the lowest number of weapons that you can use, withonly two in the game. The first one is the M10 Gordon, which is the worst SMG in the game, with horrible accuracy. So,if you need to use your .45 ACP ammo, go with the UDP Compact, which is onlyslightly better than the PTM, stats-wise.
The Best 12.77mm/12.70mm Weapon: Saiga D-12 Or RAM-2
There are six total shotgun types in the game, and the best out of all of them iseither the Saiga D-12 or the RAM-2. While the early shotguns in the game aren’t the best, these late-game ones can be quite effective, especially with how short-range fights are in the game. Don’t forget that shotguns are great for mutants.
The Saiga D-12 is a magazine-fed shotgun, which makes it faster to reload in prolonged firefights. It also has one of the highest firing rates of all shotguns and is only tied to the SPSA-14.
On the other hand,there is the RAM-2, which has a slightly better range and accuracybut has a slower reload rate.It carries 14 shells, and you do load it with two shells at a time, but it’s still not close to the magazine reload of the Saiga D-12.
The Best 5.45x39mm Weapon: Dnipro
Unlike other weapon types where there are advantages to the weapon despite having lower stats, assault rifles in the game are more straightforward. Some of the choices for 5.45x39mm weapons are simply better than the rest in both stats and how you’re able to handle them.
The Dnipro is the best weapon for the 5.45x39mmwith thehighest overall statscompared to the other weapons that use the same ammo type. The damage stat of this weapon is equal to the AK-74S, but its other stats are comparable to the Forra 221 with higher penetration.
The Best 5.56x45mm Weapon: Kharod
Not to be confused with the ammunition above, the 5.56x45mm is the standard NATO round in the game, and this is what most Western guns use. Just like the other assault rifles, there is one superior weapon to choose from the bunch stat-wise.
The Kharod has amazing stats with great penetration and rate of fire. Its only drawback is its low damage, but it also has manageable recoil, making it easy to land headshots in short bursts.It can even get better stats through upgrades, making this an easy choice.
The Best 7.62x54mm Weapon: SVU-MK S-3
When it comes to the 7.62x54mm ammunition,the SVU-MK S-3 is the best one in terms of overall stats. It has thehighest damage, a good rate of fire, and a great range stat. It is even lighter than the other sniper rifles that use the same ammo.
It spawns much later in the game, so save your coupons for when you get this amazing sniper rifle so you’re able to immediately mod it to get even better stats.
The Best 9x39mm Weapon: Rhino
You will mostly encounter the 9x39mm ammunition type in the late game, and there are a variety of different weapon types that can use it. Weapons like the Grom S-14 and the VS Vintar are just a waste of this expensive ammunition since their stats are overshadowed by other weapons in the same category.
The Rhino is the best weapon to use the 9x39mmammo for. It may be a revolver and has alow rate of fire and reload, but it shines in the damage department. It has an amazing damage stat thatcan take down mutants in a couple of hits, all while only using your pistol slot.
The Best .308 Weapon: M701 Super
There areonly 2 weapons that can use the .308 ammoin the game, and the ammunition itself is expensive and rare to find. That means you’ll want to make your shots count.That’s why the best choice is the M701 Superbolt-action sniper rifle. It has high damage and a long-range scope.
The other choice is the Mark 1 EMR, which is a semi-automatic rifle that has half the damage stat of the M701 Super. That means you’ll need to shoot the expensive ammunition just to take down your enemies, making it worse.
