Skills and Gameplay

Picking the right skills at the right time can make your Druid leveling journey a lot smoother. In this section, we’ll break down which abilities to focus on duringthe early, mid, and late stages of the game, along with the passive skills that complement them best. We’ve got you covered with practical tips to enhance your gameplay experience, no matter if you’re starting out or pushing into endgame content.

Early Game

Before you unlock the Druid mastery, you’ll be running around as a Primalist. From levels 1 to 20, it’s all about building a solid base with skills that hit hard, keep you moving, and help you stay alive.Swipe is your bread-and-butter melee attackearly on, giving you good solid damage and a bit of health leech to stay topped up between fights.

Once you hit level 2,swap over to Gathering Storm for even stronger burst damageand some lightning flavor. Summon Wolf helps you out by adding, giving you a loyal companion. When you reach level 16,swap out Summon Wolf for Summon Storm Crows, since the crows can scale better with spell damage and have strong ranged attacks.

An Efficacious Grand Heorot Idol of Fury for the Primalist. Increases Transformation Damace and Minion Attack Speed.

Fury Leapis your mobility skill that makes getting into and out of fights easy, plus it buffs you when you land for a big opening burst.Warcry is there to bail you out in rougher encounters, giving you a quick damage boost and extra toughness. If you’re feeling like you don’t need constant healing, you’re able to also replaceEterra’s BlessingwithMaelstrom, which creates a swirling cold damage aura around you and can melt groups of enemies as you run through them.

For your passive skills for Primalist, start by dumping points into Primal Strength early. Itboosts your Strengthand gives you a nice chunk of health regen to keep you healthy between fights. After that, grab Hunter’s Restoration. Itgives you a little heal every few seconds, adding up to being pretty significant.

Once you’ve got those,Survival of the Pack is a must.It gives you melee damage boosts and some tasty leech for both you and your companions. Don’t forget about Tempest Bond either. Itbuffs your Physical, Cold, and Lightning damage, which fits perfectly with Gathering Storm. If you’ve got a minion out (like a wolf or crows), you get double the bonus.

Midgame

When you hit level 20 and unlock Druid mastery, your build really starts taking off.Werebear Form becomes your main tool for tanking and dishing out heavy damage, especially when you specialize into nodes likeUnending Storm to fire off automatic Storm Boltswhile you’re in bear form. Also, try to invest in nodes that boost the frequency and uptime of yourTornadoes.

Gathering Storm still plays a big part of the build, especially once you grab upgrades likeStrike Twice and Excited Bolts for stronger lightning bursts. Summon Storm Crows keep the pressure on enemies from a distance, adding lightning damage and armor shred that scales well with your elemental focus. Mobility stays important too, with Fury Leap helping you stay mobileand Warcry providing buffs.

For Passives, you want to dip a little into the Shaman tree for Shamanic Infusion. This makes all your elemental attacks, especially your Storm Bolts and Tornadoes, penetrate enemy resistances. Over in the Druid tree, grab anything that pumps up defense.

Endgame

After level 55, Werebear Form becomes your primary upkeep skill. Tornado falls off for passive Maelstrom and Warcry buffs that make you more powerful while transformed. Rampage willautomatically activate Warcry, which in turn triggers Maelstrom.

Gathering Storm remains a reliable filler skill, and Fury Leap is still your choice mobility skill when not in Werebear Form.

Gear

As you journey through Last Epoch, you’ll come across a staggering amount of gear, and deciding if it works for your build can be tough. Pieces with elemental damage buffs like Cold or Lightning scale your Tornadoes and Storm Bolts. Minion buffs, often plentiful on amulets, can benefit your build if you’re running Storm Crows or any totems. Also look for effects on gear that trigger when you transform or attack while shapeshifted.

Adding a Loot Filterto your Druid will help tremendously in narrowing down the gear you need.

Armor

In the early stages, prioritize armor that boostsHealth, Resistances, and Leechto help you survive initial encounters, such as the Unique pair of gloves you getearly in the game’s story quest, Avarice. As you progress, seek out gear with Mana Regeneration along with Attunement and Strength to pump up your damage output. Suffixes like Health, various Resistances (Physical, Lightning), and Cooldown Recovery help with tankiness and skill uptime.

Midgame gear should focus on bonuses to skills, and balanced gear like the glovesThe Last Bear’s Fury, a defensive and offensive set that increases your armor and physical melee damage output. In the endgame, aim for high-tier items with Attunement, Strength, and Lightning/Physical Damage. Picking up theMantle of the Pale Oxchestpiece, for example, canprovide +Levels to Tornado and minion’s attacks to significantly boost your damage.

Trinkets (Amulets & Rings)

Trinkets really boost your elemental damage and effectiveness. Early on,equip Jade Amulets for Attunement and Silver Rings for Movement Speed. As you advance, look for rings and amulets withLightning Damage, Spell Damage, Channeling, and Strength.

By the endgame, seek Amulets with +Level to Gathering Storm and Channeling, and Rings withIncreased Critical Strike Chance and Cooldown Recovery Speed. Upgrading to theEye of the Storms Amuletand Exalted Opal Rings will give you some elemental resistances, more health, and in the case of the Amulet, proc Maelstrom every 3 seconds.

Weapons

Your weapon makes a huge difference in how hard you hit. Early on, grab any two-handed staff (or a one-handed axe/sword if you put points into thepassive Harmony of Blades) weapons if you preferyou can find withSpell Damage and Lightning Damageto pump out as much damage as possible. As you adventure through midgame, keep an eye out for weapons with betterStrength, Melee Damage, and Elemental Damage.

Once you hit endgame, start hunting forExalted, Unique, and Legendary weapons with big Spell Damageand high Critical Strike Chance. When you’re around level 100, it’s a great time to swap into unique and legendary weapons that really click with your build’s strengths.

Relics

Relics might seem small, but they’re a big part of rounding out your setup. Early on, slap on anything thatgives you more Health and Resistancesto stay alive. Later, try to snag relics withAttunement and Lightning Damageto keep your offense scaling up.

By the time you’re closing in on endgame, you’ll want relics with highCooldown Recovery and Resistancesto keep your skills firing fast and stay tanky enough for the big fights. Also focus on relics thatshore up any weak spotsand make your build even smoother. For specific builds, Stormcarved Testamentbuffs you and your totems' lightning damage, and Dedication of an Erased Primalist for health and minions.

Idols

Idols are a huge part of rounding out your Storm Druid’s power once you start heading into the midgame and beyond. Early on, just grab whatever gives youextra survivability or buffs. Once your build starts coming together in midgame, you’ll want to hunt for Idols like the Huge Nomad Idol, giving Increased Lightning Damage and Increased Critical Strike Chance.

The newly added Woven Faction lets youincrease your idols' power even moreby enchanting them.

Near endgame, look for Idols, like the Grand Heorot Idol, that give youSpell Damage for Storm Bolt and Increased Spell Damage while Transformedas well as the previous buffs mentioned. These all play perfectly into what your Werebear Form does best: constant lightning damage while playing aggressively.
